@NewL
Actually can't think of one from 20 years ago (that was just a random number to put across a point not an actual time frame to use), but how Quantum Computers? Even Einstein rejected some of the claims of quantum mechanics and so I'm sure if you could have asked him, he'd have said a Quantum Computer would be impossible, yet more recent work has actually got us part of the way to developing one (http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/16/quantum-computer-chips-get-infinitesimally-closer-to-happening/).
I don't believe this really works, but I really don't like the unprofessional way in which Engadget is reporting on this. There is a very, very slight chance that these guys may have figured something out that you just don't understand (as I said though, I doubt it).

If 20 years ago you were told about all the tech that is in development at the moment you would probably have just laughed and said not possible then too.

Let's just wait and see what happens when they get someone independent to verify this.
This time 3D will not go away. The main reason is that film makers and cinemas see it as a way to get more people into see the films as most people don't have the systems at home yet, and the films are not as easy to copy (no more filming them with camcorders, just won't work with a 3D film). If cinemas can get more people in to see the films then they and the film makers will make more money, and if the films are produced in 3D then there will be plenty of people out there who will want the cinema like effect and buy all the kit they need.

I feel sorry for people who are unable to see the 3D effect, but that is no reason for others not to have it I'm afraid. Did we stick with mono audio just because some people are partially deaf?
The fact that a huge amount of people have yet to upgrade to HDTV means nothing. You do not need to upgrade your technology in little steps. All it means is that there is still a large number of people who haven't spent a lot of money upgrading their sets yet, and so 'may' actually be more likely to fork out the cash then those who have recently upgraded. Remember the 3D sets ARE HD too, so this may be the thing that helps those who have yet to upgrade, decide that their is a reason to upgrade.

Personally I feel the 2D - 3D transition is a bigger step then SD - HD and is much easier to demonstrate to the public the differences and the point of having it.
You don't need the top of your head to change height when you jump. What would the point of that be?
The point of a jump is to usually allow you to get over something, and therefore it's your feet you need to raise. So yes, this is a jump.
Do the usual scale models of trains work in exactly the same way as the proper things?
If not then this is just as valid as those.

Also, if this were on proper tracks imagine how hard it would be to find the train after a derailment!
3D Games you say?
They are already here (Invincible Tiger): http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/977/977952p1.html

This game can be played in standard 2D, in any of the new methods supported by all the new TV's coming and in the old fashioned anaglyph (red and blue glasses )methods.

You can get it now on Xbox Live Arcade and I think it may be on PSN now too.
I'd say it's fake. Would be very easy to do, and on the site, after posting the images he says "Let’s see how fast these spread."
I feel it's just mocked up to see how fast his fake images will spread.

We shall see in time though
Cookie Monster!!!!
Hope I win, that'd be a great gadget to have.
Oh, to back this up a bit, heres the dictionary definition showing the link to rabies and the fear of water.

Noun
hydrophobia (plural hydrophobias)

1. (pathology) An aversion to water, as a symptom of rabies; rabies itself.

2. Fear of water.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
