Always wanted to try one of those out. looks like a pretty good design.
I think the idea has more merit then is being given credit. Remember the new EPA guidelines that are being pushed through have to do with the average mpg of a brands line up. This being the case if ram is brought out of dog their epa average goes through the roof. They even get to say they have the most fuel efficient line up of any auto brand.
You'd have to talk to sony about betamax I don't believe they still let anyone create a betamax player.
Great Redesign... Still very simple and functional. Perfect for an automotive news site
Bob makes some great points. The people that believe the transplants are good for america aren't looking at the scale of the whole thing. Think about the idea that GM spends 17 million on viagra. That is a small window into just how many people GM covers with just health insurance. If you really want to save GM and Ford then call a congressman and tell them to get our conservative government into gear and create a national health care plan that makes sense. This will take heath insurance away from the unions as a bargaining chip and we can really see where the costs were going.

To say let the Japanese come in and make the same amount of cars with these transplants is forgetting that all the non manufacturing jobs (the engineers, the hr people, the tech support, the management etc) are all foreign employees. They are making a great piece of the pie of every japanese car sold here. $13 billion is nothing considering the amount of time that Toyota has been in this market. For all the press these cars get you would think they walk on air. They have the same outsourced parts that are in the american cars (sadly). They break just the same.If buying a GM or a Ford will keep one american engineer's job it would be well worth it for me.
With what four-wheeled conveyance did you first declare your freedom?
1996 Pontiac Grand Prix

How did you come to acquire it?
Bought it from my Uncle

Why did you decide that it was the car/truck for you?
It was the best I could afford and I knew its history.

How long did you own it?
Still do! Going on to 5 years together

Any particularly powerful memories (good or bad) tied to the vehicle in question?
rebuilding the engine with my father do to GM's awesome intake manifold gaskets.
This happened to my '96 grandprix. at 60k and my father and I did the repairs that one cost us less than a hundred but a while weekends worth of work.

It then happened to my fathers 98 venture since he didn't have the time he brought it to the dealer it cost him 1500 dollars to fix this is at about 80k then he had it happen again at 120k now call me crazy. But didn't they say they fixed the problem? why did the 98 venture go twice.

You know what every car maker has problems. All I can say is that even if you had the 1000 dollar repair to the car you still pay less than if nothing goes wrong n the toyota van same year(both base price)
Killing off pontiac would just do the same horrible thing to gm that cutting oldsmobile did. Getting rid of brands isn't what GM should be doing. Getting rid of brands just gets rid of diehards. The sv6 is going away which is fine with me keep the family cars in the chevy line up. There is no reason to get rid of pontiac the grand prix is still a great seller and the G6 is also holding its own. They are both not rebrands. Pontiac is the only way Gm is going to fight off the likes of styling heavy nissian.

"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
