It would be sweet if I won this
Please pick me ... I still use a Motorola RIZR
Thanks for clearing this up.
My understanding is that the Pre's 3G frequencies are supported by ATT, as per information listed here
http://www.precentral.net/good-news-bad-news-gsm-palm-pre-bands-and-unlocking

Additionally, this may be glaringly obvious, but people seem confused.
The Pre, from O2, is NOT available sim-free/unlocked in the UK.
I read a report stating that the phone would be £150 not €150.
Also I Iive in the UK and stopped by my local Orange store this morning, the attendant hadn't even heard of the Motorola DEXT or CLIQ and looked at me like I was mentally incapacitated before he dipped into a sale pitch.
Has anyone actually seen this phone around the UK?

t
I live in the UK and Apple has hardly "dropped" O2. They have simply ended their period of exclusivity. It is good for Apple, Other Carriers, and most of all Consumers. It is most probably also good for O2, I would bet that as exclusivity expires some of Apple's extravagant reimbursement requirements from network providers will be lowered, furthermore O2 will be bringing other promising phones to market as well
I am an American living in the UK, and am a bit confused about phone and SIM locking in the UK.

If I were to buy this phone off contract from CPW or P4U, could I unlock it and use it on another UK provider and use it on a GSM provider in the states?

If you buy the Pre off contract through CPW or P4U will it still be O2 locked? Can the Pre be unlocked and used off O2 in the UK?

WTF?... That video was totally useless ... less informative than most of the pictures.
"Can we see the widgets in action? A little later" ... What a douche.
Funny, even with the Apple event lined up for today, the Palm Pixi managed to be the biggest announcement of the day.
The bad news, no GSM announcement. I live in the UK and I know a number of people waiting for a new device like this one, Palm is screwing up its market chances.

No WIFI? WTF Palm?

I have been waiting since Feb of '08 (earlier if you count the early web OS coverage) for a GSM Web OS device of this form factor
I just wasted an hour of time, during which I should have been studying, to watch this underwhelming crap.
I totally agree about the Market Leader Syndrome. I am not going to go as far as others and say "I am going to buy a Zune now" but given the current market it doesn't look like I'll be buying any new electronics this holiday season =(

No Updated Ipod Touch.
No GSM Pre/Pixi
No Apple Tablet.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
