Orb reportedly set to announce support for iPhone, iPod touch {Engadget}

Dec 12th 2007 4:30PM The best app for this type of thing is Simplify Media, even though it's still in beta. There's a native iPhone app which lets you access your home music libraries from anywhere in the world. You can also add friends and have their iTunes (or WinAmp) libraries show up under "Shared" in your iTunes as if they were in your local network. It's genius!

DOT.TUNES is extremely buggy. I regret having paid for the iPhone module. Other apps to check out are Signal, which is similar to Dot.Tunes and Remote Buddy, which is a brilliant way to control your computer from your iPhone (does not require jailbreak).

Talks between Apple and China Mobile squelched... or are they? {Engadget}

Nov 30th 2007 10:20PM I remember reading an article recently about the huge gray market for iPhones in China. It's become a status symbol there.

Pixelmator 1.0.2: Now Leopard ready {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 11th 2007 7:50PM I haven't really used Pixelmator much since I'm a heavy Photoshop user. I am somewhat interested in Naked light however (naked.la). It seems like something useful and something I could recommend to other people because of the non-destructive editing and node-based layout. I'm anxious to try their beta.

Something I've noticed a lot of beginners have a problem with Photoshop is getting accustomed to using layers. I can't even imagine trying to teach a PS beginner to use Smart Objects. Hopefully this new crop of image editing software will lessen the learning curve for some people.

How would you change Leopard? {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2007 10:18PM You CAN drag a window to another space by moving it all the way to the corner. Try it.

I do agree that they need more transition effects for Spaces. I wouldn't be surprised if they release those in an update.

Nov 2nd 2007 9:10PM Seriously, this Service Pack BS is getting old. Can't you guys come up with something new? If you don't know what Leopard is like don't comment on it. Did you read the Ars Technica review of Leopard? There are a ton of major under the hood changes to Leopard. This is a major update to OS X.

How would you change Leopard? {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2007 9:05PM First, would be nice to be able to drag-and-drop with Screen Sharing, although I suppose there could be some security risks with that. I think the iChat version allows drag-and-drop.

At least give the option of lists in stacks so people can stop bitching!

Live preview in the Spaces icon on the dock.

I would tweak the interface slightly. Round out the highlighted menu options like this:

Have Front Row playback from iTunes.

Give Spotlight a window overlay for results so I can finally replace Quicksilver.

More transition effects for Spaces (like Cross-Dissolve). Sometimes, the sliding makes me dizzy!

Analysis: iWork and Office for Mac {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 26th 2007 11:32PM I love not having to use Office anymore. I hate Office 2004 with a passion. I was never a heavy Excel user so Numbers is more than enough for my needs. Pages is also great. I have noticed a few compatibility issues when trying to open older versions of Office, but that's not a big deal, I can just resave those files. To anybody saying Pages and Numbers are slower than Office 2004.. lay off the drugs, seriously.

The only thing I wish I could figure out is how to make all my .doc files have the pages icons once I enable Pages as the default app. Right now, they all show up as blank document icons.

Save the Open Apple key (or should we?) {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 16th 2007 10:55PM I don't miss the Apple key at all. I just bought the new keyboard and I wouldn't change one thing about it. It's really stunning.

Not buying the keynote 'outline' {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 11th 2007 4:48AM Sounds like a joke on ET "phone home".
