No one here has mentioned Headline News. For years, you could turn it on 24/7/365 and get a gloss-over of the day's events in news, sports, weather and entertainment... Every 30 minutes.

In primetime now, HLN is nothing but the talking head shoutfest that every other cable "news" channel has become. It's all opinion in primetime.

Not to mention that in many markets, the last 5 minutes of each half hour is covered by whatever local TV station has paid for the right to do a local news cut-in. Of course, these cut-ins are simply hours old news with a promo for the next (unwatchable, piece of garbage) newscast on their own channel. The last 5 minutes, of course, are where Jeanne Moos' great feature stories are aired.

To be clear, CNNH promos a feature package throughout the first 25 minutes of each "show," but then that section of the show is covered by your local affiliate. That's not frustrating for the viewer!

And lastly, in Phoenix, Cox cable comes back from commercial breaks 30 seconds to a minute late EVERY SINGLE MORNING. They cover CNNH programming with their own local spots or promos. Headline News resumes in-progress.
I used to work in casino advertising. Part of my duties -- not really advertising, but somehow it ended up being my responsibility -- was internal signage.

We had to put up signs pleading with people not to remove food from the buffet. People would come in LITERALLY with foil-lined purses and stuff crab legs, prime rib, etc... Of course, they'd steal the silverware, too.

Of course, these were poor people/casino trash, not necessarily overweight people. But still... Never overestimate the general public.

As stated by someone above, give that restaurant 0 points for tact, but I'm sure these repeat "customers" had worn out their welcome and the restaurant had real cause to want them 86'd.
That's one of the sexiest giveaways I've seen here. Just beautiful.

Please, Engadget... Count me in.

Any motorcyclist worth his or her salt knows it's possible for just about any rider to pick up just about any bike using the proper technique.

A 120-pound woman can right a Gold Wing with the proper technique.
This is a ridiculous post in a series of not-for-everybody posts by Erica Sadun. If you're not into hacking the iPhone, TUAW is no longer for you.

I have an iPhone. I love it. Before it was launched, I couldn't get enough of it. Now that it's here, this site is unusable.

Weblogs, Inc, please launch an iPhone haXXors blog. As for TUAW, it may be too late.

Kindle vs. iPhone .. just pure stupidity!
Not with Leopard.

I, too, am disappointed in the upgrade price, but kind of expected this update not to be free.

Long wait + high upgrade price = Buzzkill
Thank you guys for being the first website I check every morning and the last one I check before I go to bed.

God Bless...
Just like the iPhone post haters... If you think the Dock is just fine and don't get anybody who wants to change it, simply skip these posts. It really is that simple.

For the record, I think the new Dock is fine AND I'm experimenting around with the looks on the site Erica pointed us towards.

The Jet Black look is a winner. Most of 'em are too busy.

And note to the webmaster at LeopardDocks.com, showing your downloadable mods off on a PLAIN background would make the docks stand out more. A busy Dock on a busy desktop wallpaper is just a mess.
Nope. But that's not what I bought the Garmin for. I just needed it to get me from Point A to Point B, which it does beautifully.

I thought the Garmin would do that and much much more. It does. Just not very elegantly.
If the shop I bought my Pioneer AVIC from allowed refunds, I'd take the thing back.

There's a major road near my house .. it's been there for more than a decade, it shows up on the AVIC's map when I drive on it and it's one of the major freeway exits in my city .. however, the AVIC-D3 refuses to use it. My $200 Garmin c330 uses Estrella Parkway and its map data is more than a year out of date now.

But perhaps THE MOST GRATING thing the AVIC does is insert random "slight right turn" commands into directions. Sometimes that's telling you to get over into the turning lane as you approach an intersection. Eight times out of 10 though, it says that while you're driving down a straight road, with no turn coming up... Or on the freeway, at 75 MPH, with no exit within 5 miles or more... "Slight right turn ahead." Uh, thanks, Honey.

I wonder if that's a TeleAtlas map data issue or an issue with Pioneer? In any case, the device is maddening to use.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
