Sony creates micro-sized fuel cell system {Engadget}
May 4th 2008 12:33PM Again with this discussion?
You would need around 3 L of fuel a year to power a device like this.
On a car, however, that would be enough to drive for around 30 km, which is less than most people drive everyday.
So basically your car uses in a day what your phone will use in a year.

InnoDisk intros 128GB FiD 2.5-inch SATA 10000 SSD {Engadget}
Mar 16th 2008 9:36AM You may believe it or not, but I think my EeePC's 4 GB SSD (which is one of the slowest on the market) is better than any HDD, even enormous ones, like 500 GB.
Why? Because I don't need to store thousands of songs and movies on my notebook. I need it to turn on and off and work very fast. And no HDD can do that.
I'm not saying 4 GB is enough. It's not, I have to use external storage (SD card) to help me.
But my point is that a 128 GB SSD is way more useful than a 1 TB HDD when used as a primary disk.
On a desktop, nothing stops you from using a SSD + HDD combo. This will probably be common on big (13.3"+) notebooks too.
Varioptic and Seiko to start manufacturing liquid camera lenses {Engadget}
Mar 15th 2008 7:37AM I don't think you guys see the potential of this technology.
First: cameras won't need motors anymore, reducing body size, weight and battery life.
Second: we can have a zoom lens that doesn't need to move, making things much smaller.

Mar 13th 2008 7:09AM Such a huge device with a QVGA screen? Are the 90s back?
I mean, seriously, it would be so much more attractive for me if it was 50% smaller and battery life of "only" 6 months.
Asus spills more details on the 9-inch Eee {Engadget}
Mar 10th 2008 7:09AM Actually from what I have heard Eee's memory is kind of a compact flash card with a IDE interface. Don't know if that qualifies as SSD, but what I think the new version will have is a "pure" SSD solution, which will probably be faster (some SSDs can reach speeds higher than 100 mb/s) and more reliable.
