I have an HP LP2475w IPS 24". Great monitor 1900x1200, run it with my 17" mackbook pro. Will run both @ 1900x1200 without any issues. And I can turn off the 17" mbp monitor and run it with the full 512 instead of dual monitor splitting.
Full HD is awesome looking on it, and it has a boatload of hookups. Several HDMI, DVI, etc etc.
Got it a while back for arounf $500, worth the extra cash over the other 24" cheaper non IPS LCDs. A bonus is it also rotates to portrait/horizontal mode.
May your father rest in peace. Very nice tribute for him today. Thank you for all you do to keep us informed and up to date with new tech as it comes to market.

"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
