Interestingly, BRIGHT STAR approaches a similar level of ridiculously sexy, romantic abstinence. You don't need fangs. Women's sexuality is based very much in the head and their heart rather than their groin. So an obsessive, all-consuming, not-really-requited crush is a great (SAFE) fantasy for women girls. Meanwhile the moms can also feel comfortable with it, since it is indeed so chaste.

Ultimately though, you're gonna have to end up in BREAKING DAWN (or TRUE BLOOD/Sookie Stackhouse) territory. It's called growing up. :)
Breaking Dawn will make an intense, sexy, brutal, outrageous, romantic flick. Or two. Can't wait.
I couldn't disagree more. It's a gorgeous, goofy, sophisticated site that is utterly unique. And the zoom/pan crazy transitions from page to page are stunningly animated. Love it.
I'm totally digging the show so far. Definitely going to keep watching. I lost interest in Hung after 3 eps, but I have a better feeling about this one... It's Brooklyn hipster stoner slacker noir. Me likey.
Guys -- I was not making comments about the men (and boys) who like Twilight stuff. My comments are about the men sitting in offices in Los Angeles (and the women whose paychecks these men sign), who are deciding how to make and market these movies.

It's about servicing the more-than-50% of the American population who is not male, also. We have money too. Though, admittedly, not usually as much. ;-)

Twilight is not about "action," special effects, fangs, or sparkly skin. It is more about internal states, emotions, ethics, and romance. It's about immortal love, passions of the heart, family. It's pretty much a no-brainer why women love it so much (even before RPattz got cast).
The girl in me is disappointed that Summit/Weitz/etc feel the need to make something "better" than the already-very-good Harwicke/Rosenberg/Meyer project which became such a big "surprise" hit in the first place.

As to your comments regarding attracting male viewers: it's a shame that every single franchise feels it is requred to make this such a priority. In particular with TWILIGHT it is just cringe-worthy, watching the overtly masculine Hollywood machine take a film series based on books written by women and for women, fire its female director, and cram itself into the made-by-men-and-for-men model.

A damned shame for female horror/fantasy/romance fans the world over.

Sorry boys, but this one was supposed to be OURS.
Wondering why you had to include the sentence here about Sookie being part-faerie. That's just mean and spoilery, for people who haven't read the books. I have read the books but... maybe I'm being over-sensitive? There's really nothing else here that a non-book reader has to worry about.
So I am a tad confused: does this movie not have a US distributor? Just read that over on David Poland's site...is that right?
Don't EVER stop posting about TDS/TCR. Enough is never enough! ("FlyGate"? ROFLMAO)
It's got to be one of the show writers. It's ALWAYS the writers who are the BSG fans.

OK, there's been a BSG reference on 30 ROCK. Now all I need is either Tina Fey, or Katee Sackhoff, to do a cameo on MAD MEN, and all will be right in my world. :-)
