WD's 500GB My DVR Expander drives certified for use with DISH HD DVRs {Engadget}
May 16th 2008 4:45PM you guys have the wrong picture that isn't a mydvr expander, that's a mybook. Very different and a my book will NOT work as a dvr expander so you should probably change the picture so there isn't any confusion to your readers.

May 16th 2008 4:43PM I'm gonna have to say werd to that! I have SA 8300HDC and I can't get it to work properly either. the 8300HDC will recognize it and say that it has add it and that I know have a crapload more recording space available beut when I try to record a program it will say it's recording but it really isn't. When the show is over and you try to find it on the list of recorded show it's not there. So I've been unable to record a show for the last 5 months since I've gotten this thing.

XstreamHD details continue to emerge {Engadget}
Jan 9th 2008 1:49AM Has anyone thought of it's weakness? Via satellite! Being in florida and not being able to watch a movie cause of inclement weather is not cool. Isn't that when you watch a movie cause it's raining. I'm not excited about this, well actually I'm not excited about downloading my movies period. rather just pop a movie in the PS3 and watch it. How many people watch movies at their house on their pc instead of in their living room? Not many, why would you? So streaming to all these places in the house isn't that big of a deal since you usually watch your movies in one place. Plus the fact that it's an HD movie makes it even slimmer of a chance since you have to have a PC capable of doing this. I bet DRM (HDCP) is required, how many PCs are HDCP compatible, not many. I can see watching movies on your laptop on the road but this device doesn't help you with that. So I predict failure for this device, especially with HD VOD out there who's gonna want to install an (another) ugly satellite on their house just to watch movies? Count me out.
A-DATA demos 128GB SATA RAID SSD {Engadget}
Jan 8th 2008 4:32AM so it has it's own RAID controller built-in? If so then this would be faster than a non-RAID 128gb SSD, would it not? This sounds freakin awesome!

Microsoft releases changelog for Vista SP1 RC {Engadget}
Dec 8th 2007 5:29PM Here's a big one
"In SP1, PC administrators are able to modify the network throttling index value for the MMCSS (Multimedia Class Scheduling Service), allowing them to determine the appropriate balance between network performance and audio/video playback quality."
If you don't remember MMCSS was the service responsible for crippling gigabit network bandwidth while listening to music.
Mark Russinovich the guy that blogged about this flaw emailed me and said he'd be blogging about his in a few days. I spent a while trying to figure out how to change this option in SP1 but haven't been able to find it yet.
