The WiFi networking standards (including 802.11g) require only that ad-hoc mode communication supports 11 Mbps bandwidth. You should expect that WiFi devices supporting 54 Mbps or higher in infrastructure mode, will drop back to a maximum of 11 Mbps when changed to ad-hoc mode. Ad-hoc mode should generally be viewed as "slower" than infrastructure mode for this reason.

In short, ad-hoc WiFi is 11Mbps *vs* this BT 3.0 @ 24Mbps.

Screen resolutions will have to improve to at least 1024x768 before I consider one.

I'd use mine in conjunction with my NAS device to stream up music/photos/video.

No need for a powerhouse with lots of hard disk space for that sort of purpose.

Until screen quality increases, I'll stick with my Compaq Presario 2100 laptop. Dated, but obviously kills these netbooks in video performance, and most other areas.
How about using a server (or pc if you will) to store your music library, connect a media extender to your home audio and network them? Much easier and cleaner than using your portable player in a home setting.

www.jeremyhop.com (you can also stream this music library) Have a go at it and you won't waste your money on this crappy wireless stuff.
Take your kids to the park. Televisions in a child's room is a very stupid idea. A radio will stimulate the child's mind while the boob tube will numb it.

I'm not a Dad...Yet but when I am, I can be certain that my children will be my life. Theses distractions are a recipe for disaster. Attention from parents and other humans are what they need and want. TV is the death of the imagination.
Minneapolis has a city-wide wi-fi network and only charges 17.99 for 1Mbps service through USI.

Oh yeah, most coffee shops as well as most bars, restaurants offer free wi-fi. WHO needs Cell companies to offer this??
Thanks for the link. Btw, any developer could do this with most hardware, happens the ipod is popular enough to have this third party interest.

Native support for this is not available and not supported by Apple. That was my point.
I read theses things weekly and can say most of you people are fucking lame.

Blah blah, talk shit. whatever. iPods are fucking lame. A round wheel to scroll down?? Who thought that would be ergonomic.

The only reason iPod sells is because its hyped so much. You CANNOT make the iPod connect via MASS STORAGE so your argument there is flawed.

Sometimes I think you geeks are still living in your moms basement and never see the light of day...Total idiots here.
What a stupid idea... Enough said.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
