Not only is it working in Athens, GA, but I'm now getting 3G coverage where I didn't before.
I just switched to DirecTV's service (HR-20 HD-DVR) from Dish's Vip622 and I'm happier with the service and channel line-up so far, but I really miss Dish's DVR. It's just excellent. The Dish HD-DVR box can also run 2 TVs, which is great if you're in an apartment. And it's one less lease fee. DirecTV gave me a better price than Dish and I'd been having service issues with Dish that were costing me too much money in technician calls. Probably can't go wrong with either service since Dish will eventually catch-up with the HD content. If you are particularly partial to XM radio and NFL, DirecTV might be a good choice.
I'm not buying either format until someone calls it quits. I'm not going to buy one type of media only to have it go obsolete in a year or so. Unless Blu-ray wins out, there's no point in buying a PS3 - unless you aren't using it to watch movies. With neither HDDVD or BR giving out statistics that show the big picture, there is no sense in dropping $500+ on a PS3 or $150-200 on a 360 HDDVD add-on until someone gets pwned.
I don't think the prices for the plan are that bad so long as it comes with messaging as well. I'm just irritated that you have to sign a 2-year contract.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
