Spy shots of Apple's Macworld booth are of giant black shroud, shockingly enough {Engadget}

Jan 13th 2008 7:05AM Also I must disagree that the P900 had a scratch-able screen. Like I said, mines about as old as it could be (got it very close to release date) and it is still totally unscratched! The rest of the phone is covered in them, and the surrounds of the screen are a bit worse for wear, but the screen itself is as good as the day I bought it!

I have tried it, and yes its a step up, but so it should be, coming around 5 years after the P900 was released (and I bought it)! Its not £800 special though!

Jan 13th 2008 5:44AM Thats not really a revolution at all, it was just the next logical step in the touchscreen mobile devices that have been around since the mid 90s. People talk about the LG Prada, but they seem to forget things like the Sony Ericsson P800, 900 etc, Apples very own Newton, and many other devices which used touch a long long time before the iPhone. Its "revolution" is to kick into high gear the advancement of simple graphical UIs in the smartphone market, which is a niche achievement, but worthwhile as they immeasurably sucked beforehand. The best thing is, the mobile industry has already started to catch up, and I don't need to buy any Apple products to enjoy the revolution kickstarted by the iPhone.

Sony cuts PlayStation 3 production cost in half {Engadget}

Jan 12th 2008 8:31AM stephen, you make a convincing argument, except its all very "personal" in that you have to be aggrieved that Sony broke these promises before you can really care about the arguments. Personally, I wasn't interested in the Seventh Gen of Games Consoles before about October 2007, so I haven't heard many of them, nor am I that bothered that they haven't been met, I'd just rather look to the future and be optimistic, which is currently how that future looks.

Its kind of the same thing as being disappointed by games with no firm release dates getting "delayed", LittleBigPlanet for instance. A lot of people are disappointed that its not out till September, but I wasn't expecting it out anytime soon because no-one said it would be, so therefore I'm not disappointed, but actually looking forward to its release!

Jan 8th 2008 4:12AM Its funny that you wrote "aren't anything to write home about" in a piece that you wrote home about...yeah, that's all I've got to say about this one.

Portable Copy makes us wonder why we still have UMD {Engadget}

Jan 8th 2008 4:11AM You couldn't really. I mean, there are people out there without the internet still. And even those who have it don't always have grand connections with unlimited bandwidth, y'know? Physical media will continue to thrive as long as downloading stuff isn't equally instant, and even long after that, what with the human condition regarding possessions.

Microsoft's free Arcade title not enough, still hit with lawsuit over Xbox Live outages {Engadget}

Jan 5th 2008 11:19AM I found it odd that Microsoft couldn't actually keep track of how many Gold subscriptions had been sold and therefore couldn't predict demand. Surely that would be a fairly good indication? If not, then just estimate it from how many new Xboxes were sold! And if they didn't expect all those people to logon on Christmas day, they don't deserve your subscription payments!

How-to guide details fix for stuck LCD pixels {Engadget}

Dec 24th 2007 11:03AM Not really a coincidence that the photo of the dead pixels is of a Mac ;)
