They didn't put camera on iPod touch because they want to shift the old stock, 'the most popular PMP in the world' the nano. So you get the old nano cases that have been lying around, machine a hole in the back, bake some new finish on them, pop a camera on the board and there you have it, a PMP with camera.

Now if they'd launched iPod touch with camera also they would have needed to do the full range of touch's including the 8gig with the camera. So how many iPod nano's you think they would have shifted this Christmas, not as many as they would have liked to. There you have it, wait till next year when the nano stock is running down and launch new nano and new iPod touch with camera and possibly OLED but I seriously wouldn't hold your breath on that. Also launch micro app's for the nano and Classic, or maybe not.
Very good idea, I'm fed up with bloody apple at the moment though. Time for a change I think, lets be honest the days of ' ow look he mush be cool he has an iPod' they are long, long gone.
I couldn't agree more.

I have an envolope in my sock draw with iPod fund written on it. I have £160 saved so far and will be hitting the £260 mark come Christmas. I loved getting the 1Gen touch 2 years ago, I bought it myself and got my other half to send it to Santa, ha, for Christmas day. Right now I feel so totally pissed off with apple I could spit. I'm guna have a rant sorry.

Apple you lazy pile, software is great with new and fresh hardware. Don't know about you but apple seem to have taken the stand that it's fan base has now got it's money invested in apps, so why bother spending money on the hardware, they won't jump ship after spending money on apps...... WRONG most of the apps, games etc have a very short life, I can live without them. Now the Zune HD, I never thought I would say this, it's looking sweet, even just for the new OLED.

My 15 year old god daughter summed it up the other night. I asked her so which of my iPods you like best the iPod video, the iPod touch. She said 'iPod video for music and the touch for games, but I don't really like the touch screen idea with games'. Say no more.
Another NON-EVENT. Yes that is me shouting to myself for thinking that Apple would come out with somthing ever so slightly different in the iPod touch line. I've waited two years since I got my touch for a twist to the touch and all they can come up with is bits and pieces from the iPhone, not even the camera, same case, same crapy res screen

This is the day I went for somthing else, now the Zune HD is looking more likely, I can't believe I would ever say that, I really can't. What is Steve on about thanking the people who worked on the iPod range, what the hell have they done of any interest here. Steve while you were gone they moved in some reject staff from MicroSoft and let them loose with your baby, they put all the new stuff in the bloody Zune, holy crap.
I really want one of these for me new G10.
Why do I have the feeling that the September iPod gig is going to be as boring as the iPhone one was. Disappointing to say the least.

It needs OLED, it's as simple as that. Give it another 6-8 months and OLED will be all over the shop and iPod will be totally out of 'touch'. Sorry but it's going to be a bad year for iPod I fear, Apple have gone back to their 'its all about the software' days to make money out of non events. Yes the software is very clever, it was clever 2 years ago, in fact is was almost exactly the same 2 years ago, so why would I 'need' to change my device. Don't get me wrong I want to change, I have the money saved in my iPod fund, but I think it might be time for a change and Zune HD is ticking more and more boxes as the year goes by.
Wow, this better be a joke else it's hardly going to be a great turnout tomorow. If this is 'a' new version of the iPhone then I hope to god it's the basic model and they have a HD version also. Apple's had 2 years to come out with somthing new in the hardware line. I'm not an iPhone person but I love my iPod touch and tomorow is the type of day i look forward to because of the obviouse implications the new iPhone will have on the iPod later in the year. This photo shows a none OLED screen, this must be wrong, Apple better have the best dam OLED screen ever seen in the new range else their well and truley screwed, it will be another year till they have a refresh and by then OLED will be old news. There's a great shot I saw the other day of a possible leaked photo of the new iPhone with a massive OLED screen and little square button along the bottom edge, it looked realy sweeeet.
Well this looks like it might be just the thing that Apple has been working with Samy on for the new iPhone/Pod. I always thought they might do the 300ppi for the new screens, that would be somthing really special, photo lab quality on a small screen. Just wish they could push the boat right out a do the same 300ppi on a 4" like many are saying, Mmmmmm, 4inch widscreen 300ppi AMOLED on the new iPod, game over, as long as the sound quality is to match.
Well, this dose look real nice, I've been using the Space Nav for years and it is the best 3D navigator around, for me anyway. That price point is a problem really when you think that this thing has the same foundation as the $59 navigator but a load of buttons added. Definatly do what I have done and get the Logiteck G13 gameboard and use it as a pro keybinder and just use the Space Nav, much much better option and you get a whole load more short cut buttons in the one place, and a LCD screen, etc, for a fraction of the price. It works real well for me.
Just thinking the same thing. 3D on a phone great. You would think they'd have the guts to put proper screen shots in there, funny.

I don't get the phone thing now days, all they are is a screen, not exactally exciting, for me anyway. No mater how crap some things on the iPhone are non of them look anywhere near as good to me, they definatly lack the cool factor. Not that I'd actually buy an iPhone or any other phone that cost over $200, the're all out of date half way through the contract so you spend a good 8-6 months disapointed.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
