Feb 7th 2008 5:28PM Am I the only one whose actually tried running Vista on cheap hardware? All those people who say "oh you'll need to upgrade" need to actually try it out themselves. Vista scales all the way from best of the best effects right back down to the Windows 2000 interface based on performance analysis of your PC. It automatically determines the optimal configuration and let me tell you that it flies on a P4 3Ghz with 500mb RAM and a no name video card with no tweaks necessary. If you're telling me that's an upgrade then what are you doing reading engadget? Vistas far from perfect and I won't be switching to it anytime soon, but for god's sake can people please stop saying that you need to buy really expensive hardware to run Vista even if you don't plan to do anything intense with it. That's just plain wrong.

Jan 13th 2008 5:28PM Yeah, and SMS, EDGE connectivity and the ability to make and recieve calls... Sigh, wouldn't that just be the best?

Nov 25th 2007 6:01PM Wow, there are some aggressive people on here. I thought this was a blog on technology, not a place for people like kev to vent their ridiculous right wing views. Wow, as long as we're not living in the Soviet Union then everything else the government decides to do must be okay. In fact, since you're so confident in living lawfully, why don't we all have cameras installed in our houses so the government can watch what we're doing and catch criminals. You've got nothing to hide, right, so it won't affect you?

Tranquil's T7-HSA shipping with Windows Home Server {Engadget}

Sep 12th 2007 11:36PM I can see how this would be good for a lot of people who just want to plug it in and don't have many requirements, but one of the things I've learned from my encounters with MS Media Center is that while the product may look slick, it's pretty much always going to work as it did out of the box without some severe hacking. I still believe that anyone looking at serious home automation, media or torrent serving would probably be better served setting up their own vanilla box and customising it as required, whether through linux and open source or windows and whatever else you have.

Ask Engadget: PC or Mac for back to school? {Engadget}

Aug 26th 2007 7:34PM Wow, you actually sound like a Mac Switch page. Perhaps you're missing the irony of choosing to post your fanboy rant in my comment, so I'll let you work it out.

By the way when I said upgradable I was obviously not talking about a laptop since I'm well aware that the parts are generally mashed together. It was more a comment in general about upgrading.

Ask Engadget: PC or Mac for back to school? {Engadget}

Aug 24th 2007 2:06AM "Real" IT people use whatever they like, because they're mature enough to know that an operating system is not only as good as the advertisers and fanboys tell them.

If you're hankering for an Apple experience then go with the MacBook. Like everyone says, you can run Windows XP, Vista, Linux and whatever else you desire on a Mac, but you can't have Mac OS if you do it the other way around with a PC (blame Apple for that one). With a Mac you can get the best of both worlds, but you do pay a premium for something which you can't really upgrade easily - plus you'll need to buy XP or Vista outright at retail price.

iPhone 1.0.2 update released {Engadget}

Aug 21st 2007 7:59PM "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (0xE8000029)."
If that's not cryptic then I'd love to see what your interpretation is.
