Though it doesn't necessarily speed up the download, the overall reduction in network load will speed up everyone's connections.
If it comes only to "select clients to prevent piracy" I can garaunte that it will be a failure. People use peer-to-peer for stuff that providers don't want them using it for (not necessarily stuff they shouldn't). For instance, my main use of torrents is to download episodes of shows I missed. I normally only watch them that one time. However, I don't do that for lost anymore because it's better to use the online client at ABC. ABC has gotten it a little bit and is cashing in on it with the advertising during the online viewing. Damn smart of them.
I'm somewhat of a broken record on this, but when it comes out say "Screw apple, I'm going with Android." Android will have practically all the functionality and more with an open platform. Not to mention that when it comes out they will open up the source code, which mean porting to all sorts of devices. No doubt the iPhone will be one of the first.

Apple, get ready to get your clock cleaned by an example of what the iPhone and it's OS should have, and very well could have :(, been.
Xperia won't be around for some time and when it does hit there will be plenty of comperable devices not far behind. Sprint is a member of google's Open Handset Organization and will be one of the first with Android devices. They are saying 2nd half of 08 (probably 4th quarter) for those and I don't think they'll be far behind the Xperia time wise.

Also, the Android devices will kick the crap out of WM (I'm using WM now and have for a while). The Xperia sounds great (and it will be no doubt), but it won't be something that isn't available in other phones when it hits. At least not for long. Look for there to be several VGA and WVGA phones that come out before years end or in early 09. (all of this is IMHO)
The problems with the phone being slow would be easily fixed if HTC had the proper drivers installed. There is a lot of hardware that isn't being utilized that would make the phone run just fine. They say a fix is coming. We'll see. I'm really hopeful for it.

In other words, not long before android comes out. People can enjoy the iPhone. I don't mind, but I'll revel in the fact that I've got something a lot better when google's OS debuts.
All I can say is HA HA and "I told ya so" (well, not anybody here specifically, just knew it myself). By the time this is actually out and being used, it will only be a short period of time before android is here. It will launch with tons of community mad apps and will explode in developement once the open source community. Until that happens my HTC Mogul will serve me just fine. Especially considering I can add and change anything I want without fear of repercusions from apple or my carrier.
This is supposed to be 320x320 and hit the sprint network sometime in the next few months.

Hopefully, with the iPhone here we'll begin to see higher resolution smartphones. I'm hoping that when Android hits at the end of the year we'll start seeing VGA resolution phones (640x480). That's about as high res as I want a 2.8-3.5 inch display to get.
***Are there any android phones at CeBIT?***

That's what I'm really interested in. I want to see those android phones. Hopefully, we'll get a some before the end of the year. If they were the VGA variety I'd be even more stocked.
when will people learn to actually buy the better deals in wireless?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I love my little computing companion but I often find myself missing a full sized keyboard. I have been looking at several of these portable and flexible keyboards, but I can't seem to make up my mind about which I should buy. I don't want the keyboard to be overly expensive, but I want it to be good quality. Also, how difficult is it to type on these keyboards? Thanks!"
