Torchlight to explore retail shelves in January {Joystiq}

Nov 5th 2009 10:55PM I guess that sorta makes sense. I just prefer to avoid the term "American" all together.

I've never heard anyone call a New Zealander an Australian though. But they are Australaisians.

Nov 5th 2009 9:12PM Incidentaly, I also correct people when someone says "American" if they are excluding Canada, Mexico, South America, etc. ;)

Nov 5th 2009 8:57PM No, I remember when everything became IBM-clones. But all computers were still PC's whether a Radio Shack 1000, C64, IBM-clone, or Apple 2e.

David, you are awesome.

Nov 5th 2009 8:44PM Sorry, this just drives me crazy:

"Torchlight is only compatible with PCs, however the team is hard at work getting it ready for Macs..."

A Mac IS a PC dammit! Maybe it's because I've been into computers for a long time, maybe it's because I'm a little bit anal retentive. But when I think "PC", I think of a computer, not an OS (ie. Dell, IBM, Apple, Toshiba, etc.). And when I think of OS's, Windows is one of the last OS's to come to mind. I think Linux, MacOS, Unix/BSD, Solaris, OS/2, etc.

Mavizen's electric bike hits 130 MPH, ships with Linux and WiFi {Engadget}

Nov 5th 2009 4:14PM Seems like bikes used to be fairly efficient... Nowadays it's hard to find one with a smaller engine than my beetle! Part of the problem is probably emissions control, reducing horsepower so much that they need gigantic engines to cope.
I always think of the super cub when considering motorcycles and fuel economy. One gallon gets you 330 miles on a super cub, but they're illegal here (U.S.) because of emissions. Is it really worth it to burn 1000% more gas?

But anyway, no argument here that electric motors are a much more elegant solution. However, the only problem is the batteries. We have not yet invented an efficient way of storing energy for electricity. And while I think the problem of CO2 and other "pollutants" is highly exaggerated, I also feel that it's just not quite right to sump up deeply buried materials and release them into the environment in mass quantities.

Oct 29th 2009 3:36PM "Is it possible for Google to be sued for anti-competitive practices when it only offers free products?"

a) It's not free. They charge for their "google experience" apps. The difference is that they sell it wholesale to the carriers instead of retail to each individual.

b) Only works on Android phones. Requires network connectivity. Which means there's still plenty of room for Garmin and Tom.

c) How is offering a similar but cheaper service "anti-competitive"? I would say that's the exact definition of competitive.

First Assassin's Creed: Lineage episode is surprisingly great {Joystiq}

Oct 27th 2009 5:25PM Why isn't this labeled "PC" news as well?

PSN Thursday: The time for Trine {Joystiq}

Oct 23rd 2009 2:17PM Wait... does that mean "no no... Time for Oddword!" or does it mean "No time for Oddworld."

And what the hell is with the Beatles DLC? Where's all the songs individually? I got some free for pre-ordering, so I want to buy the rest (and not the pack since I already have some). WTF? I mean, REALLY... WTF?

Trine coming to US PSN today; Frozenbyte answers the obvious question {Joystiq}

Oct 22nd 2009 6:21PM I played some of it on PC already, true. But I'm totally having a Trine party tonight!

Rock Band Weekly: A killer Queen pack {Joystiq}

Oct 16th 2009 5:00PM Wow, I was about to say the same.

Most of these songs are far from their best stuff... What gives?
