So true...until the iPhone is well and truly unlocked w/o the need for updates (which i'm sure will always come with a "you must update or else etc" and the obligatory relock0 I'l stick with my open 3rd-party filled Palm treo.
:-O
* picks up jaw off floor and goes off to finally place iPhone order*
That's silly - why not do this with the iPhone? Maybe because they HOPE to get a lot of money from the iTune wireless store hmmm? This is one guy they ain't pwning!
A release of newton II is still a lame excuse for crippling the iPhone and iPod Touch. We already have laptops and a large PDA is as useful as the Foleo was...give us what we want Jobsy and open up the iPhone/Touch!
^^ blah blah blah blah blah APPLE fanboi blah blah blahblah blah
What's even better than the touch feedback is (horrors) they actually have a DEDICATED PHONE BUTTON for answering the phone!?!!

*faints dead away at revolutionary interface compared to iPhone*
What's new from Apple? Same old same old. hackers will never die (well actually they will but you get the point!)
You're absolutely right - for an MP3 player it has more functions (FM w/32 presets, SDHC-compatible expansion) and is $100 less for the same amount of memory the ZEN is not in the Touch class - it's better!

When I want something to surf internet (that you can't have flash or download with), watch youtube/movies (in one limted codec)I'll use my laptop or get a 4' screen Archos 605.

When I want flashy gimmicks that don't actually translate into superior function and wear off in about a week, nto to mention at cut-my-throat prices, i'll get an iTouch. When Apple stops crippling their devices they just may be the best, until then it's simply glam w/o much substance.
Good thing the Zen is actually $248 rather than $300 eh? And that gives you twice the memory of the $299 Touch and even less of the feature crippling.
I've been waiting for the hackers to break this and someone to make a comic book reader for the iPhone touch..only reason I'd get it over an iriver clix2 or creative sen...but at this rate I think i'll just get a notebook!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
