Bill Gates wipes away tears at Microsoft farewell {Engadget}
Jun 28th 2008 5:23AM Bill,
Thanks for all you've done over the years. Computing simply wouldn't be the same without you. Hopefully, you can say that about the rest of the world in a few years. Highest regards,
Michael Bushnell
Apple quietly enables movie purchases from Apple TV {Engadget}
May 1st 2008 10:00PM I checked and I do not see any movies for purchase in HD. For instance, I am Legend is available for rent in standard for $3.99, rent in HD for $4.99, or purchase for $14.99. I'm assuming the purchase is just standard def.
Dell unveils tiny bamboo-cased eco-computer concept {Engadget}
Apr 22nd 2008 8:33PM I'm an ardent Apple fan, but I think this looks pretty neat. This is the exact opposite in terms of awesomeness of that Fujitsu all in one that was featured earlier.
Microsoft finally releases new Vista Ultimate Extras, still "ultimate" in name only {Engadget}
Apr 22nd 2008 8:30PM I guess most of you all are too young to remember Plus 95 and 98. This is the same kind of crap they've done before. Wow, back then you got Golf 98, Mcafee virus scan, "deluxe" cd player, some stupid marble game, and a few desktop themes. Anyone else seeing a pattern here?
Apple COO says it's not married to iPhone exclusivity, still on track to sell 10m this year {Engadget}
Feb 27th 2008 8:37PM I was about to say the same thing. When I read the blurb, I thought to myself "when did Oppenheimer retire..."
Vista SP1 doesn't significantly boost performance, slows down certain tasks {Engadget}
Feb 13th 2008 8:11PM I tried Vista on my iMac. It was decent, but then I installed the release candidate of SP1. Whatever they did, the time it took for my computer to come back awake increased 10 fold. I didn't notice any speed boosts either. I have since gone back to XP because it uses much less HD space and lets me do the same stuff.
Sprint Unlimited Access Pack is $119.99 a month for unlimited everything {Engadget}
Feb 6th 2008 12:44PM I hear you on the cell phone deal man. I swore I'd never get one when I was in college. However, my company signed a deal with Verizon a while back that is pretty sweet. I only have to pay $35/month for my Verizon service and I got the phone for 19.99. I'm under no contract at all, just month to month. Plus I got a phone number with the same area code as my parents so they don't have to call me long distance any more. I can't stand cell phones, but this deal was just something that I couldn't pass up. I no longer have a land line and just use my cell phone for any calls I need to make (which are very few).
Wii Virtual Console getting Sega Master System games {Engadget}
Jan 26th 2008 11:06AM They have more TG16 games on the virtual console than any other system except NES. At least they did last time I got on the Wii Shop channel...
First shots of Windows 7 leaked? And by 7, we mean Vista. {Engadget}
Jan 24th 2008 11:46PM Big surprise, I look on Engadget and all I see are MS bashers. Look, I have both Vista HP and Leopard on my iMac so I'm pretty qualified to speak on the merits of each of them. I prefer OS X, but Vista is just fine for 99% of people. You all need to get a life with all this bitching about drivers and all that. I fail to see how having crappy drivers and thus crappy performance is Microsoft's fault. Why don't you put your time and energy into contacting ATI or NVIDIA if you are that obsessed with having a few frames per second more in game? Maybe you all should actually buy a computer from a manufacturer who knows how to get the correct drivers for Vista. All of the Apple drivers work just fine for Vista. Yes there are some annoying things about Vista, such as having to scroll down in the start menu (what PHD moron got paid to make that decision?), but the majority of complaints either have been resolved or they will be resolved soon once SP1 hits.
Keepin' it real fake, part CII: Chinese iPhone knockoff thinks different (with infomercial) {Engadget}
Dec 16th 2007 6:34PM Man, you need to relax. Its Sunday night in the US, and there isn't exactly much going on in the world of technology at this moment. Get up, go upstairs from your mommas basement, and have a moon pie or something.
