So they got ~ 250kbps with 3g WOW!! I can sign faster. Finally the iphone has caught up in functionality to my BB pearl from Verizon...wait no it hasn't, I don't have to pay/hack for mp3 ringtones. Boooorrrriinnnngg
If you ask me the pearl for Verizon is an iphone killer. I use it for work email but also get my gmail and use it as a personal phone. In the past I've had a treo and moto Q, never had a iphone but played around with friends enough. Here's my justification:
-3g
-Orb works for streaming music and movies off my media server
-youtube works
-gmail pushed with verizons BIS even when on my companies BES or, use gmail app for access to address book
-opera mini is a great browser and allows the full html view and zoom ins like the iphones safari.
-a2dp for stereo Bluetooth
-you can make you own mp3 ringtones without need for a hack.
-sdhc memory card slot, 8 gig max now but higher cards may work.
-2 mp camera with flash and video
-user replaceable battery.
-Smaller form factor better fitted to keep in a pocket.
-better keyboard, I can actually type faster with rims word completion software than with my old Qs full keyboard
-album art shows up in media player.
-phone shows up as storage device in windows so no special software needed to transfer music or files.
Simple...as soon as the next Final Fantasy is released on PS3, I'll buy one. Until then, I have Lost Odyssey :)
Sounds like a good use for VMWare. Install XP on a 128 meg VM and leave it running minimized for the 3 months. Click around every now and then to let MS know you're actually doing something. Doesn't require the extra electricity of running a new computer and its isolated, so MS won't see anything they're not supposed to.
Does anyone know what format a DVD is encoded in natively (mpeg4??) I have most of my DVD collection ripped as .ISOs (used dvd shrink), and currently stream them to my original modded Xbox ala XBMC. Will this update allow me to stream these DVDs to a 360??
Has anyone thought of the possibility that Apple did this under pressure (maybe legal) from AT&T? AT&T paid a lot of money for exclusivity, and probably aren't too happy it became so easy for the end user to switch networks.
Definitely when the Mystic's prophet chick was dancing and floating around....yeaaaa
Paying $20 less for a voice/data plan than verizon
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
