There are all kinds of interesting issues: BIOS, bootloaders, sector alignments... More here from a discussion started earlier this year:

@mrklaw Serial is faster than parallel because of "settling time". The number of logic gates (or variability in their manufacture) in a path for a given bit may not be the same as for another bit. As a result, the bits in a parallel connection will arrive at slightly different times. In order to accumulate a word of data, a settling time is required. The settling time imposes a maximum word transfer rate.

Serial data arrives one bit at a time, so there is no settling time. The upper bound on serial data is the switching time. Faster electronic / optical interfaces directly translate to faster serial transfer.
Interface speed is not equal to throughput. This means nothing, and I don't know why sites even bother reporting interface data rates. Unless the interface is a bottleneck, no one should even care.
This is great! Now they can spend their days smsing like tweens.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Firefly?
Generally, when people say 'radiation' they are referring to ionizing radiation. Cell phones obviously emit non-ionizing radiation. If you are concerned about this, make sure you wear your lead underwear and foil hat. There are radio waves everywhere! Stay in the dark (light is EMR) and don't go outside. Sunlight has many millions of times more radiation - so much that it can actually burn your skin!

Doesn't it bother anyone that there are billions of people using cell phones (for decades now), and no one has had an illness that has traced back to the phone?

You're probably more likely to get some problem from the near continuous handling of the plastic case than from the EMR.
Another vote for Android and a capacitive screen.
"World's first USB 3.0 hard drive, the XS 3.0"

XS 3.0? Excess 3.0.

In other words, "Yeah, we know it's worthless on this drive."
Either Google needs to give cyanogen a license so he can continue to distribute the apps, or cyanogen needs to distribute the ROM without the apps but with a utility to include them from the current ROM.

Either way he will be able to continue distribution legally. The first way would make it easier for Android customers. The second way will just leave people pissed at Google.
My Toshiba 5105 laptop was one of the first "legacy-free" laptops. It transfers control to boots an OS in about one second.

I bought it in 2001.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
