ExxonMobil is starting to diversify it's holding by investing into buying new homes so they can become our landlords. They figure they might as well own every bit of our lives.

Yes, this is a joke, but at the same time I wonder just how much of the new home market $10 billion would buy? $10,000,000,000 / $250,000 = 40,000 homes
Paktu said 'Any form of suggestive media has the potential to "teach".'

It doesn't have to be suggestive. Everything is a chance to learn, and even the best of intentioned 'lessons' can be 'learned' in a way that the teacher never intended. The teachings of Mohammad, Jesus Christ, and Moses have all been pretty widely mis-interpreted. The history teacher who talks about the US Civil War can have one kid walking out positive that Whites are superior to Blacks, while another kid walks out positive that Whites owe his people for that, while a third kid walks out amazed that people who were once viewed as slaves are now in some of the highest positions of power, and only morons think that race should keep a person from being President.
ScottG13 - "I won't vote for Obama because he plans on raising my taxes"

We have to pay for the war, the vets, fixing the highways and the senior citizens somehow. Unless you have a way to do it that doesn't put us even deeper in debt, then I think taxes are going to go up.

For some reason they didn't go for my idea of putting a $5 tax on each bullet, and a $5 tax on each item imported into the US. Paying $5 extra for a $0.53 bolt should mean that we can afford to start making them here in the US rather then importing them from China.
Well, I wouldn't object to the goverment giving every American pretty much the same insurance I have now through my employeer at about the same rate (around $250/month for a family with $20/copay).

I kinda like the idea of someday being able to become my own boss, but right now if I do it my medical goes up to $1000/month, so I can't afford to make the change.
There are over six billion people on the planet, so you have over six billion chances to hook up.... and yet many people are still home alone each night.

You can help one of these lonely people by hooking up with one of them tonight. It doesn't matter that they are not what you want to hook up with. All that matters is that you hook up.

A little sympathy hook-up will make you feel better about yourself. And it will do wonders for them!

(I got dibs on the hot chick!)
Best Buy is charging $399 no matter if it is Linux or XP.

So much for them being the Best Buy...
So, any clue as to why the cost for the Linux and XP versions are the same? Did Microsoft start givining XP away for free? Seems like even if MS is only charging $10-30 for a license that would show in the price.

Or is ASUS just trying to make those who like Linux pay a Linux Tax?
"Almost industructible" is why they are going to quit making them. If you are not buying a new truck every other year, how are you helping pay Ford's stockholders (Not to mention the CEO).

Now if anyone can come out with a Chevy Luv sized pick-up with front wheel drive and a small diesel motor (1.2-2.2 liter)...

I want a truck that comes in a bare metal, no pretty model for under $13,000. Once they do this they can offer the 22" AWD, oversized motor, 47 cd changing, 2 tons of crome version to the folks that want it. I need something to get around on the farm with. I am even willing to pay the $500 extra it cost to convert a diesel to run on 100% bio-diesel.
Cool, I only need about 700 of these to make the 1.21 gigawatts of power I need so I can go back in time and file my patent on the idea. Extra power is to run the cameras, laptops and iPod.
Why are we messing around with converting kinetic energy to electricity? I have a much better idea: Polyester bra and a wool sweater. 100k volts of static electric just waiting to be tapped. A whole new meaning to "I'd tap that". Also works a taser in case you are attacked.

Can you imagine the electrifing potential of a pair of pants with one leg made of polyester, and the other being wool? Hook it up to one of those system that charge products they are near, so that the iPod in your pocket is charged as you take a walk. By the way, this is being advertised by Ewe at almostporn.net (We don't just make clothes, we make Futurized Urban Garments [F.U.G.]). Soon reporters will be asking stars about their clothing and the stars will reply "F.U.G. Ewe".
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
