I have a an HTC P340 - it's not a bad phone but I *really* don't like windows mobile.
My telco gave me an iphone though - free! Don't know why. It's pretty good too. I hate the Apple/Iphone hype though. Most mac fanboys think that Apple invented everything ...
What you're doing with the SLR should help you decide - all of the cameras mentioned so far will suffice as a first DSLR.
I have owned many cameras over the years, including, Pentax, Minolta, Olympus, Fuji and Nikon and have to say that the two Nikons a D80 and an FM2 are superb cameras. One of the best things about them is the viewfinder - they are very large and clear and really help when composing an image.
For a first camera though, I would suggest the Pentax DSLR - their K1000 film camera was considered an essential piece of equipment at photography schools the world over.
They're not the fanciest, but they're reasonably priced and once you've mastered it - you will know what you really like and dislike in a DSLR and wil know better for next time. Also you will have saved money for a decent lens which is far more important!
I like Apple stuff I have a Mac and I think it's quite nice. However if you were new to the planet you'd be forgiven for thinking that Apple actually invented everything that they sell and that everybody else's stuff was a poor imitation. Cleary untrue.
This is partly due to the absolutely brilliant marketing plus massive backup from the smug drones who buy into the 'Apple vs. anyone else debate' and deride others who don't agree.
Long live diversity. Up yours smug drones - Mac, PC or otherwise!
And it's not as if Apple haven't already designed the 2nd Generation phone and planned production is it - it'll be half the price and do twice as much - this is APPLE people.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"

Well then. You are just the kind of C0CK that Apple is looking for.
Perhaps you should work out how much more you would have paid and send it SJ - I'm sure he'd *take it*
