You can put lipstick on a pig... but its still a pig!
Theres a decent little iPhone app called BabyRec as well which people should take a look at.
Two words: Lotus Europa.
I'm right there with HDMI - Big plus point to get some media/presentations onto flat-screen TVs.
In the last few months we have:
- Ballmer's "I'm a PC"
- Canning Bill & Jerry (which worked for me..... Gimme a little robot Bill!)
- This Boyband garbage

Are Microsoft *trying* to lose the plot?
Monday != FAIL

Its just another day for the uninspiring, but solid Vaio brand. You can be sure its going to be a good looking, well built machine which fulfils its ultra portable role better than 99% of the other machines out there.
TZ's may be small enough to netbooks, but they are very different machines. They have much higher-res screens, more ram, better processors, optical drives, stellar battery life, wifi and BT, first class construction....

Its hard to see how a make-it-as-well-as-you-can ultraportable will translate into a make-it-as-cheap-as-you-can netbook without damaging the Vaio brand.
You're probably not far off.

They would be unlikely to offer a more portable laptop than the envy and the blackbird is the big gaming rig, so the only space left to fill is a bigger laptop with serious graphics.

How to improve ANY laptop...
- Longer battery life.
- The latest processors / SSDs.
- Enough ports so I can plug in the mouse/modem/usb drive etc.
- Screens and keyboards which get the the edges, no lame bezels.
- Design. I don't care if its not to some peoples taste, just don't make it anonymous.

VOIS = Epic fail on a conceptual level.

Why waste so much effort on an InstantOn solution when you can get Windows Hibernate functionality to do the same thing? VAIOs have had this whole area sorted for years.

There are so many scenarios where you don't want your machine cut down the middle.
- VOIP: Whats that line in your document say? Oh...
- Update Flash... Boot, update Flash.. tedious.
- Boot: What was that link we had? Oh, it was in the other bit.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
