TDVisor-HD: world's first "portable" 720p 3D visualization system is still impractical {Engadget}
Jan 26th 2008 10:24PM Exactly, and now-a-days 3D means stereoscopic glasses-which would eliminate any need for a gigantic TV. Because hell, if you're wearing the glasses anyway you might as well cut out the middle man and have little screens in them to produce the stereoscopic effect.
Combine head tracking and eye tracking into the visor then pair it up with a Wiimote-esque controller and FPS gamers(like myself) will have a deep love for it. Being able to afford it is entirely another matter of course.

Jan 4th 2008 11:51AM You console fanboys sure are clueless. I guess that's why you operate machines that don't require you to exert any thought. I know how to fix my computer, can you fix your console when it breaks?

Jan 4th 2008 11:48AM I still have all the components in my rig that were there about three years ago. AMD 3200+, GeForce 7800GT, and 2GB RAM. I still play most games on high settings(Note:Haven't touched Crysis yet), and I still have the option of building a SLI rig with my 7800. Upgrading isn't every four months for the average gamer, get a clue.

Dec 29th 2007 4:25AM If you're building a computer out of this mobo, two quad cores, and four video cards you're already spending a fortune anyway. Might as well add some form of badass liquid cooling.

Dec 5th 2007 6:37PM Yeah, the EV-1 was a marvel, godsend, whatever, but you guys seem to be glossing over the fact that this is in fact innovation at work. This is a plug-in hybrid, not an all electric vehicle. Not only do you get the combustion engine to push you when you run out of juice, but the energy reclamation braking system as well. There have been advances necessary for this technology and those advances have taken time(Hybrid drivetrains, battery tech, etc). Though I'll be the first to admit that these technologies should have been the focus of study during and after the EV-1 production, the simple fact is that the big names figured that there wouldn't be any money in producing that type of vehicle.
Which would you buy, a 10k gas powered car or a 50k electric? It's called a business for a reason, they go where the money leads them.
Dell releases Precision T5400 and T7400 powerhouse workstations {Engadget}
Nov 27th 2007 12:23PM Interesting, I've never heard of such a thing. I'm assuming that the hardware would function like a riser(see link) but provide additional memory slots. Not that a run of the mill gamer would need 128GB of RAM, but the notion of having 24GB instead of 12(assuming you've got four slots and 4GB DIMMs) or 48 instead of the 24(8gb DIMMs) is tantalizing.

Nov 22nd 2007 4:06PM "And then you'll have no more movies to watch. I guess you win."
Highly ranked? You people are tools. Maybe multi million dollar budget catastrophe films will stop being pumped out, but thats like crying over the loss of boy bands. "Oh no, our precious over produced pieces of trash have stop being released, what ever shall we do?"
Oh wait, did you mean all movies? Because if you did, you're bigger tools then I previously thought. That's like saying that piracy is going to kill music. Oh noes, the interweb is killing our entertainments! Ha!
