IOGEAR extender takes DVI signals 100-feet over CAT 5e / 6 {Engadget}

Apr 15th 2008 7:04AM Exactly. Always nice when someone points this out. I too was incredibly disappointed when I find out that it was not over Ethernet.

In order to benefit from these solutions, you need to make dedicated CAT5e/CAT6 runs just for these devices as well as having your dedicated Ethernet runs.

I'm glad I found that out quick enough before sheetrock was put up on the walls.

Clear Channel digital billboards in SoCal hax0r3d {Engadget}

Mar 25th 2008 10:56PM @blaktornado

Are you fucking serious? If that started playing out on the billboards next to the freeways there would be a thousand fucking accidents.

I mean that literally. A THOUSAND fucking accidents. At least.

Oh and P.S - FUCK YOU. I just about got over that video and you opened up the pain again. Nice and Fresh. You bastard.

Former Polish prime minister opposes online voting, says Internet users are all watching porn {Engadget}

Mar 15th 2008 4:39AM Everybody can get mad all they want. She is 1 billion % correct.

We ARE all watching porn, and would probably have to have some porn up on the dual screens WHILE we are voting.

Hell, I got some good lesbo porn going right now on the 2nd monitor right now.....

Taliban pressures Afghan cell networks into 5PM curfew {Engadget}

Mar 15th 2008 4:28AM I think you fail to miss something, rather important too.

This is not a negotiation. The terrorists basically informed the cell companies that their entire infrastructure was at risk if they did not comply. Period.

A Cellular company is not a government, and more importantly, these cellular companies are located directly inside Afghanistan where nothing is protected.

So you are being a little hard on them. The people don't have landlines there, they are too expensive. Cell service is critical. If the towers are not protected by US personal, or Afghanistan police 24/7 those companies cannot possibly replace whole towers every week given their immense cost.

So it was:

1) Risk losing cell service all over the country thereby permanently endangering citizens by removing access to emergency services and incur repair costs at an unsustainable rate.

2) Lose cell service all over the country for 2 hours each day.

If anybody failed here, it was the Afghanistan government not providing the needed protection at each tower.

Imation partners with Mtron, tosses its own hat into the SSD ring {Engadget}

Feb 23rd 2008 4:28PM @ Mr. Deeds.

Your just like all the rest. "Proof of SSD Performance"

Okay. Would you mind breaking that down into WRITE SPEEDS and READ SPEEDS?

The fact that is Solid State is irrelevant. It could be Tapioca Pudding State, Or Millenium Falcon Marshmallow State, or even Strawberry Shortcake Yummy Goodness State.

If we are going to look at performance, you need to look at write speeds and read speeds, among many others.

You cannot get around it. If you actually perform any tests on a 1st Gen SSD drive, you will find write speeds performing POORLY.

Period.

Sprint gearing up to offer $60 / month unlimited calling plan? {Engadget}

Feb 22nd 2008 3:30AM Sprint could offer it for 1$ and I would still not be on of their customers. I have heard so many horror stories about their customer service from friends and clients that I would be wary of using them.

Of course since Sprint SUED me for thousands of dollars for an account that was never even mine, it is a bit more personal too. Ohh, and the account did not even have my name. It was a SOC# number that had a digit misplaced.

Take all that into consideration and everybody I have ever dealt with (In Las Vegas) had a ton of dropped calls to me with their phones.

So I am not really surprised about this. Sprint really has to do something to compete since I think they have burned more customers then some wireless companies have ever had to begin with.

Armchair Paradise pod puts you in an embryonic state... almost {Engadget}

Feb 22nd 2008 3:16AM That is NOT like Darth Vaders "Pod". Puhleeeze

If you go back to the movies his "Pod" was about 5 times bigger, split in half horizontally with teeth, flatscreen TV embedded in the walls, and rotated around the room.

Ohhhh, not to mention it could take his "Hat" off for him and store it in the ceiling. Which implied it was hermetically sealed and filtered.

This thing looks more like a weird egg with feet.

Absolut Quartet: robots making music with ping pong balls and brandy glasses {Engadget}

Feb 22nd 2008 3:06AM Uhh, I actually LOVED that demo. I had no idea it was a DVD at all. I kept trying to find the software for a long time.

It was only much later that I learned it was produced by Animusic. I actually have both of their DVDs.

AT&T feels a little left out, launches unlimited plan, too {Engadget}

Feb 20th 2008 3:15AM It would be more correct to say that is re-launching the 99.99$ plan. I still have my old AT&T unlimited charter plan before they turned into Cingular.

Robots could replace live bunnies in chemical testing procedures {Engadget}
