Jul 18th 2008 3:10PM After having seen the film with a bunch of self-described 'super-nerds' (seriously, you should see these guys), I can't possibly imagine a scenario under which there's any 'backlash.' The film is simply astounding, even judged in a complete vacuum. Pacing, plot and character development, dialog, cinematography; everything about it puts it up there among some of the film greats - not just great comic films, not just great action films, but great films, period.
As to Ledger's much-hyped performance, it truly is a masterpiece. He really does become the character - and for the first time I can recall, I had to remind myself that there was an actor up there, and not the other way around.
