This is highly doubtful. Are we to believe that the price delta between Intel and VIA is $500? Too bad DigiTimes (the original source) does not cite their source.
Roy is correct that there was the VIA based UMPC announcement too.

In reply to the critics who have posted, your premises are not correct regarding the purpose of the UMPC. You may want to spend more time reading the sites that are carrying the UMPC news, check out the UMPC videos, and threads on why people are interested in the UMPC. The UMPC is a great idea and hopefully Samsung will reach their goal of producing 300,000 units the first year despite sites that are being negative.

OrigamiProject, Ultranauts, UMPC Buzz, UMPC Focus, UMPC Site, and many others (too many to list) should be read before people make rash decisions about the UMPC.
The same ODM makes the TabletKiosk and PBJ, Inc. The TabletKiosk will be sold in the US and the PBJ, Inc will be sold in Japan.
You just happened on this document because you woke up and said "Hey, I wonder if ..." or did you search for it because other places pubilshed that FCC gave approval? Come on guys. Give attributions to your stories. Be fair to the other sites.

Regardless, please correct this line: the Origami (aka Microsoft Touch Pack) ...

Origami is not aka Touch Pack. Origami was the internal project name for the hardware specifications which Intel and Microsoft decided to call Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC). According to the Microsoft website: The Touch Pack is a preinstalled suite of software that is built on top of the Windows XP operating system, specifically designed for UMPCs by Microsoft.
Seems to me that more manufacturers are onboard with the UMPC than at the launch for the Tablet PC; hopefully this is a great sign. I've also noticed many new websites devoted to the UMPC platform. This is always a direct relationship to the excitement of the product. Check out forums on http://www.paperbackpc.com ; http://www.umpcbuzz.com ; and http://www.origamiproject.com and you can see the excitement.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
