Today in joystiq: May 5, 2008 {Joystiq}
May 7th 2008 6:43AM I'm the crazy fool that made that image. I'm also delighted by your comments. Thanks! :)
The image was actually a kick-starter to talk about the convergence of gadgets and the future of User-Interface. I put the iPhone UI on there as a joke, but I actually get quite serious in the discussion that follows the image.
If you're interested in the kind of discussion I've just described then I urge you to read my blog and continue its ideas. http://planetmat.blogspot.com/2008/05/introducing-iwish.html

You wish for iWish, latest PSP mock-up {PSP Fanboy}
May 7th 2008 6:07AM I'm the crazy fool that created that image. It's too bad Joystiq didn't put a link to my site on here as well as that would explain away most of the comments that have followed.
The thing is that the iWish was mostly an idea to spur on other ideas, but you wouldn't get that if you only saw the image.
I recommend reading the blog that comes with this iWish pic (and a second pic at the end). http://planetmat.blogspot.com/2008/05/introducing-iwish.html
Thanks for all your comments so far.
AU Optronics builds "world's first" 16:9 24-inch MoniTV LCD for desktops {Engadget}
Mar 12th 2008 12:15AM I've been waiting for this for ages!!! And to all those nyerrrds complaining about screen real estate... I use a 17" MacBook Pro as my single do-all computer and at the highest setting it's 1650x1050. I've been waiting to hook a monitor up to that which would double as a tv (since I don't want to fork out mega$$$ for a lounge room behemoth). This is the perfect solution because I get more resolution than my current computer at 1920 x 1080 AAAND it's ready to watch Blu-Ray movies on *perfectly*. Now all I need is Sony to come out with a slimmer PS3 and I'll have a complete setup! :D
Sony's cookin' up a mylo 2 {Engadget}
Dec 17th 2007 10:56PM I can guarantee you right now that the reverse of that image (from the front) is a panel completely taken up by a touch screen, and the slide down panel is a keypad.
I think the Mylo represented a very funky version of the "Great Gadget Convergence" that is happening now, only that it failed to take off. I'd certainly be interested to take a look at it if they get it right though. I'm not holding my breath however, since they had ample opportunity to fix the PSP slim with camera and an extra thumb stick upgrade but didn't.

Sony's new PSP is slimmer, includes video output {Engadget}
Jul 11th 2007 4:36PM For such a sexy design I think the PSP has captured what a handheld should look like, and be like, but ironically the flaws of the psp come from core design decisions. No second thumb stick - which ostricises it from its parent product immediately, and proprietary format UMD - which further ostricises it and we've all seen the support for that bottom out. I was hoping for a broadening of what the psp could actually *do* from this update, if only to match it's wonderful design, but this is potential lost. Sadly disappointed. If only Sony would have listened to all the people who contributed to the many "what I would like to see in the next psp" threads. Tut, tut, tut...
