Is this news to anyone? I mean, they're loosing $XX per unit anyway- so it's not like we're really expecting it. People that want it, will cough up for it- I suppose.

Chris
A boot loader that emulates and creates a virtual BIOS to boot a completely different OS than the system was built to operate? - You feel should be completely free?

Sure. You dev up something complimentary and we'll see how it goes over.

On the Mac vs. PC argument, it's been going on for ages guys.

Mac builds nice looking, great working hardware. PCs are developed by everyone under the sun, and are hence given a terrible reputation. A Mac system spec'd to the same as your desktop will burn it up in flames. No question about it. You'll be little pieces of dust floating in the air. A Mac system equipped to spec will burn any PC.

It's sad that most of the Mac bashers here have never used a Mac system, or haven't used one since the G3. Please, please- for your own sake, go use one. Just go to the Apple store close by and tell them you'd like to try one out. Tell the guy you're a diehard Winblows fan, and have never touched a Mac- but want to learn the ways of the Jedi.

You don't hear about PCs breaking and PC errors and viruses because it's common knowledge. If your Dell notebook has a faulty , you just send it in to Dell and they fix it or whatever. Sure, you bitch about it for a while- but nobody listens, because that's what you expect.

An Apple gets a software glitch though, and you guys throw your hands in the air and think the sky is falling. I think it's a testament to our stability. I take it in stride.

Chris
Thank god that's just a concept shot. It's pretty ugly.

Chris
>so if i was browsing ebay in 40 years i would get a bsod via IE 20?

In theory, yeah. Of course, you'd be using Firefox 53.2.1, still as big of a memory hog as ever- not like that stops anyone from using it.

Chris
Yeah, in 40 years- Micro$hit will have bought eBay, and turned it into (you guessed it) Windows Live Auction.

It's going to be complete crap, I can tell you now. But a few of us underground pirate types will keep the eBay hamsters rolling underground- for the chosen few that know the IP; eBay will live on.

;)

Chris
Is it just me, or does Donald Duck always scare the hell outta people?
Our OS doesn't suck Matt.

I like how Engadget uses that same 802.11 b/n comparison image for every Mac 802.11n related post.

Chris
Chris- about your comment about a 'rape-based' game.

Think about it- in our current society, sex is far more taboo than rampant violence. For example, Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas was, like the rest of the series, consistently violent. People started really raising hell, though, when the 'Hot Coffee' addon was developed. Violence? Ok... we'll deal. But sex? Woah! Now hold on there.. our kids are obviously old enough to blast people to all hell, but not enough to watch some video-game sex.

Granted, it was an unintended feature, which what all the fuss was really about.

Still, this is interesting to contemplate.
Murder is illegal?

Hm... awkward...

;) Kidding- but seriously. Violent video games are an outlet, just like... any other outlet.

Frankly- I welcome our younger generation of psycho-killer overlords.

"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
