Uptick probably reflects seasonality. You can see a similar upward trend in April-June 2008 from that graph.
So you work for Nintendo's Wii manufacturing facility?

Seriously, you and your wife may want to consider diversifying where each one works unless you're near retirement. For example, if your CEO decides to play with the numbers and gets caught, both breadwinners can lose their job in an Enron-type meltdown. Also remember that mortgage and wall street companies were hiring like gangbusters less than 5 years ago, no industry is really safe forever.
Hey, it's also colored green like the OLPC! Shame on NYC for trying to steal from both Engadget's True Love and the poor kids in Thirdworldville!

This is how the game works:

1. Big Western Company establishes presence in developing country.
2. Government official in developing country threatens to shut down Big Western Company
3. Big Western Company pays a "Facilitation Fee" to some Swiss Bank Account.
4. Profit.
Why do automobile OEMs charge something like $1500 for navigation systems when you can buy higher-end up-to-date GPS systems for less than a third of the price? I swear, car dealers have even less credibility with me after one of them pushed for the option when I went car shopping last weekend.
Happy birthday, you've outgrown the terrible threes!
Though this particular model costs as much as some blu-ray players, OPPO also has the more affordable $169 DV-980H model, which I have. By the time OPPO releases a blu-ray, I'm sure component prices would have fallen and it may even be lower than the current model's $399 tag. While future OPPO models probably would be slightly higher in price than the mass-market models you see in big boxes, they will be very strong in terms of price vs. features and performance.
This was Yahoo's Valentine to Microsoft. And when I say Valentine, I mean finger.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
