my other minuses for the iPhone:
- no homescreen (as mentioned before), its just a nice helpful feature

- i want to choose my own ringtones from my files, not pay for them

- if a phone is also an ipod, why can't i have an alarm that wakes me with music???

- typing sms in German, and getting right words misspelled ( i recognize anyone using an iPhone after 2 sms latest, as they are mostly goofy in some way) give me the Nokia T9 pleeeease

The build quality of the iPhone is impressive though, 1st generation at least.

Of course for any phone I would it to have an microSD slot, capable of 32gb or more ;) one never knows whats coming...
if you like the car yoou should follow the link to the German article, it gives way more accurate information. The company has quite interesting and reknown founders backing it up, and I hope they have enough cash to put it all into reality like planned, and in time (early 2008 release). There is no mention of the innovative interior, I would love to see pcitures of that (back-lit touch-sensitive black if I am not wrong, and more). Boy if I had that money... This is my new dream car!
Looks a lot like the Yes! Roadster to me, although I am sure Bertone wouldnt ever need to take inspiration from anyone else. If you like this concept have a look at yes-clubsport.de ...the only thing missing is the italian flair (damn perfectionist German engineers ;) )
I have to correct that (a bit) - at first the readers can choose the best car, full choice, then second only import cars.
The Mini is the only import car that was also overall choice (Germans like German cars otherwise). Audi came out very strong, the Germans seem to like the design and quality (esp. interior), I guess.

So its:
mincars (hey they named it like that): mini (import:mini)

small cars: VW Polo (import: Fiat Grande Punto)

lower mid-class: Audi A3 (import: Volvo C30)

mid-range: BMW 3 series, 2nd Audi A4 (import: Alfa 159)

upper mid-range: Audi A6 (import: Chrysler 300C)

luxury: S Class (Maserati Quattroprte)

sports: 911 carrera (import: 599 GTB)

vans: VW Multivan (Renault Espace)

suvs: Audi Q7 (!) 2nd BMW X5 quite a bit behind (import: Range Rover Sport)

convertibles: Mercedes SL, 2nd 911 convertible, 3rd BMW 6 Series conv. (import: F430)
I bet they will be a hit, and will sell. First they will be cool to have, as you have something to talk about at cocktail parties ;-)

Then they do absolutely make sense for every person who spends more than 5 minutes a day looking for parking space. Dunno where that applies in the US, but I bet thats quite some crowd. With the Smart you ALWAYS find a parking space.

Otherwise it is way overpriced for a "normal" car, so you have to see it as part of the mobility concept it was once meant to be....
that put a smile on my face, so I guess I am who viral marketing was made for (although I did not forward the link yet).
I like the humour and stunning ideas of the commercials, and thats what its all about.

To stunn people so they say, hey you must have a look at that, and spread the commercials. Word of mouth is THE best marketing tool.
If it used to be for recommendation mostly, now they use it as well to just get the name out. And its fun.
Good job Nissan.

But mark this year 2006, as the final beginning of the end where it was possible to differ between reality and fake/fantasy. (OK, it started with questioning the moon landing video already, but youtube brought video to the masses this year)
Chevrolet Epica....yeah right...WTF!!!!????!!!!!
whats with these front lights? that looks scary... and the tail lights...well...thats a bit too much trying to look retro-cool as well. :-( going back to retro style chrome engines would be better.
I am really disappointed about the recent Alfas. By the time they will get to the US no one will want to buy them anymore...
Hum, price hike maybe because the US borrows tons of money from the rest of the world to sustain growth, has a huge budget deficit, spends 380 billion on war and 20 million tax money (!!!) to through the only few people who gain from that war (oil, construction, defense manufacturing) a party (hey, and they are all close bush friends) - with that recent policy its clear that exchange rates cannot be favorable for imports from Germany.

AND of course VW likely did not do a very intelligent FX hedging... not too many things they have done in an intelligent wayrecently...

Thats two parties who created lots of trouble and will continue to do so for themselves...

Sorry for being so sarcastic!
I am a real Audi fan, but honestly I am realy disappointed.
I do not get why cmpanies still rely so much on a brand design, doing small redesigns of originals, incorporating the new brand stuff (like the grill here). The original was round and a real design piece. Looks good but drives bad.
So they wanted better ride features, granted and necessary. But why stick to the old round design, when it just doen't fit in its deluted way?
It looks odd in many angles, you can see they had to stick to too many must-be design features to come uo with a real good looking shape.

They should have shaped the new TT uniquely as well, more agressive and sharp. Like a small R8.

I bet the TT will sell the first 2-3 years and then it will look old, and a new, unique design from a competitor will get all the sales.

A bit more revolution rather than only evolution (if at all) would have been nice.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
