Isn't latency the time it takes a pixel (or a transistor element) to go from Off to On to Off again?

If that's the definition then maybe the latency is 2.083 ms from Off to On and then 2.083 to go back to Off again, or 2.083ms x 2 = 4.166 ms

Maybe the 480Hz is OK since the 2.083ms is within that range of turning a "pixel" On.
The benefits of this: no moving parts; no spinning, no read/write heads and of course it's quiet.
Maybe it's sheets of quartz.
If people spend $15,000 on a flat-screen TV, they'd buy the door.

I'd buy it, I think it's the coolest door I've ever seen!
You'll like it even more with a vibrator.
It would be interesting to have wireless data transfer between USB thumbdrives (solar cell on them for power?). That sure would make it easy to file share, maybe put a slider on it like SD disks to protect it.
@ konshuss it's "regionalism" a restricted Web that's strangling the neutrality we *ALL* once enjoyed, people in the US don't see it because they're distracted by Hulu and similar sites, not noticing they're being isolated from the rest of the World...or is it the World being shut out of the US? In any case it's what we've all been fighting against but if you benefit from it (i.e you can use the service) you're probably not going to fight it.
iRiver has had .ogg support for many years, almost since day one, but yes you're right it is nice to see OSS and formats supported.
They could have at least tried to exploit the Ubuntu Linux trend and called it "Windows 7 Bendy Bill" or something like that.
All the different connectors look so huge and out of place, we really need a new type of universal connector that is small but not so small it's impossible to plug in or it breaks, even USB connectors is huge on that thing, maybe wireless USB?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
