It depends on your setup. The 100k's work great with my home machines and altec lansing speakers. However, with a crappier soundcard and amp at my office, they're too much. I highly suggest trying out a few different levels of resistance before finishing the job.
It seems to be a hit or miss thing. It's been a while since this how-to, but I'll make a suggestion - get some copper tubing or similar and wrap the heating element with it. Feed the air throught the tube - this could increase the preheat time sufficiently. (worth a shot if you're dying for it.)
The toms hardware article is a good read, but based on using an overhead projector.
The main concern is the flow of the pump.
Make sure that the motor isn't over-run by the pump volume/pressure torque requirements.

A 250 is fine, you just adjust it down. Make sure you get a food grade pump with the adjustment screw that's accessable without removing the acorn nut.

You will likely get better performance from one that's closer - procon might use a different spring for smoother performance at different pressure levels.
After loosing a pair of nice seinheisers a few years ago to workplace theft, I don't keep high end gear on my desk. Even a cheap Bheringer is overkill if you just need to combine some signals.
Yup, it's that simple to make. There's an easy way to prevent shorts - grab your pliers and remove all the pins you don't need.

I use a 15w weller iron with a .5mm (or so) tip that I beveled with my dremel tool for an even finer point.

Don't worry about it. - TV squad is actually a fun challenge because I write my reviews very quickly without much time for the traditional editing process - and I usually write tech stuff. OpEd is a big leap in writing style and I'm still cutting my teeth on it.

You guys keep me on my toes - and that's a good thing!
I got your message and I *thought* this was fixed. However, I was busy making the change with my new 8 day old daughter asking for food, so It's possible it didn't get saved.
Thanks for the effort. I'll get it straightened out. Believe it or not, these reviews are a labor of love - It takes a good two hours to watch the show, review it and get the post up.
If you want to do the paint, I'd use muslin instead of blackout. It's the usual theater flat fabric. Initial painting must be crosshatched and allowed to dry to shrink the muslin tight. I'd use a good primer, then goo if you must.
(or some of the mixtures out there.)
Which side of the cloth?
It doesn't really matter. I chose the slightly plastic side. Both are the same white, so it's up to your preference.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
