A Couple of My Rules for Startups {Blog Maverick}

Mar 10th 2008 5:23AM I've been lucky enough to meet loads of very successful entrepreneurs. Whilst all were obsessed, often for different underlying reasons, plenty of them had exit strategies!

Toshiba launching SCiB batteries in March: 5 min charge, 10 year lifespan {Engadget}

Dec 11th 2007 7:04AM Not sure this is so great for laptops- to charge my 50Whr laptop battery in 5 mins, ignoring losses, would take a 600W power supply- or probably more realistically a 700W. That'd weigh several times what my (admittedly small) laptop weighs!!

PayPal to offer security key fobs for additional account protection {Engadget}

Jan 15th 2007 2:49PM I'm not so sure this is a great idea. I understand that already phishing sites are using your login details as you type them (more like a man-in-the-middle attack I guess?). So the 30 second lifetime of the code is long enough for them to get in. Worst thing is that users may be more relaxed about checking sites are legit if they rely on this device.

Jan 1st 2007 7:38AM Not sure what the zdnet reference is, but it isn't fixed yet for me!

Siemens VDO shows off eCorner motor-in-hub concept {Engadget}

Aug 13th 2006 7:24AM Looks gimicky to me: anyone know what the actual losses are in the final stage of the drive train? Matching problems are likely I'd have thought- leading to overspecification of the motor and worse lossess under most operation. The unsprung weight must be higher, and in addition the travel of the suspension looks too small!
No thanks!

Eurotech WWPC for wrist-top computing {Engadget}

Mar 15th 2006 5:10AM What a superb design ;-)
I just feel sorry for anyone whose free arm is not transparent, as those unfortunates might find using the directional control on the top a little awkward, the rest of us should be fine!
