This is a 22" 1680x1050 monitor. There is no need for 1:1 mapping.
It OBVIOUSLY can't display native 1080p and 720p would leave huge black borders.
I assume they'd boast about it if this was an S-IPS monitor, so it's most likely a crappy TN.
The bandwidth isn't the important part. It's the increased power output (doubled to 300W) of the connectors so you don't need those extra power cables to the cards. For some reason this article doesn't mention that part, but it's the first thing they say in the original story.
It's an IPS panel, so it should be LG.
S-PVA, there are no 27" S-IPS panels.
