Well, I watched Newegg's stock on EVGAs 8800GT SSC go from it's original MSRP price of $279, to $299, to $319 and to where the price it's currently at $329... all within about a week and a half time. I've also SEEN comments on Newegg's site speaking out against price changing getting deleted by mods. ATi's HD3870 debuted on their site for $219 and are now at $249. I remember this exact same thing happening when Intel's Conroe chips hit the market. One would imagine that the MSRP prices set by chip manufactures included R&D cost.
My guess is that they're trying to cash in on the holiday fever because of the limited stock. It sucks if you're a gamer like me and you want to get a descent card for your money. The way it looks with the GTS models is that they're completely skipping the MSRP listing and opting to list higher prices from the get go.
Here here, and good luck finding even the lowest end GTS for anywhere near $299. Newegg has them currently listed for $359 to $389. Maybe since they thought they got away with all their excessive pricing on the 8800GT, they could follow suit with the GTS models.
It works great, if you want to watch crap movies. My girlfriend and I scoured their library for something good and to this date we've only watched two online movies. I have an HTPC hooked up to the HDMI on my TV and the image and sound quality is on par with DVD (no DTS or advanced surround though).
It'd be awesome if they actually had movies worth watching... but I guess this is probably part of their business model; offer the ability to play movies online, but bottleneck the amount of good movies people can watch a month by only offering the good ones on media that is delivered by mail. Effectively, you would have to keep your netflix account for months to get all the good movies watched. If they offered their whole library online, you could easily knock all those out in a shorter time, shorter time meaning you don't give them as much money.
Me, I personally want to own a system that has the most games that seem fun and entertaining. Most of the PS3 exclusives are jumping ship and releasing for both systems, so why own a PS3 when the great games look, play, and feel identical on the 360? The only exclusive (for now) that looks good is MGS4, and you can bet that Sony PLEADED with Konami to keep it that way.
If you played the stock market with your mentality, you would lose your ass. Know when to sell.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
