Sep 12th 2008 4:14AM It amuses me greatly to see how many people simply pimp their own equipment without as much as a second thought.
IMHO, when talking about good video capabilities, we need to take into account many aspects:
- image quality
- zoom availability
- file size limitations
- format
- audio
Most of the cameras mentioned above - the Panasonic being the worst offender - take good video, but the audio is MONO and tinny...
What's the point of recording 720p video, if the audio is mono???
Too few cameras out there bother with putting *stereo* microphones on their equipment... actually, the only ones I can think of right now are made by Canon.
The Canon S3, S5 and TX1 are - so far - the only ones offering video that's quite on par with what camcorders from a few years ago were able to produce, and the TX1 also does it in "true" 720p.

Dec 6th 2007 10:23AM Dear God, Microsoft is really scared of Linux... First, the Eee pc from Asus, then the OLPC... they know that once the alternative, free OS takes hold, their dominion is over.
BTW, why is Romania on that list of countries slated to receive the OLPC? I thought these were machines for the Third World, not member countries of the EU...?!
