Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Group 1 : BCS ranks 1 - 30
Group 2 : BCS ranks 31 - 60
Group 3 : BCS ranks 61 - 90
Group 4 : BCS ranks 91 - 119 (or add a team to get 120 if you like, such as previous FCS champions)
then the final 3 games are chosen randomly by drawing such that
- Group 1 teams face 1 team each from Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3.
- Group 2 teams face 1 team each from Group 1, Group 2, and Group 4.
- Group 3 teams face 1 team each from Group 1, Group 3, and Group 4.
- Group 4 teams face 1 team each from Group 2, Group 3, and Group 4.
Obviously, rules need to be in place to prevent multiple matchups between two teams in the same season, but I don't see that as being difficult.
Who hosts each game could be randomized (but restricted so that everyone gets at least 1 randomized game at home) or tilted towards higher group teams (i.e., group 1 teams play 2 of the 3 random games at home).
This way, only creampuffs have anything close to a creampuff non-conference schedule
