Yeah no thanks. Why would they put out a netbook 4 months before the n470 comes out?
that's stupid. this is the real world, not harry potter.
here we go
This business model makes little sense to me. Anyone who wants a low end laptop will buy a 400 dollar Eee PC. Who would pay 400 only to get a significantly more terrible laptop and give another away?

I'm not talking about people being charitable here, what I mean is that if someone wants to donate some laptops, they will donate some laptops. If someone wants a low end PC and is trying to save money, they will spend it on an Eee PC not some third world POS with a geode processor.
I feel like Vista SP1 is a really nice OS, as long as you have a great computer and aren't using it on a laptop. People are knocking engadget for giving SP2 a hard time but come on, you must agree that the deployment seems VERY quick (considering vista sp1 was released in march, and xp sp3 was released in april, that gives them about 6 months of development max) and there seem to so far be very few new features or talk of improved performance. The fact is that Vista only runs great on a high end computer and they are never going to be able to change that. The biggest problem with Vista right now is a PR problem, one that they seem to be trying to fix by pushing out a quick update and calling it "Service Pack 2". Another part of the problem is us as consumers, after XP we all seem to link the service pack number to the relative speed and stability of the OS. Microsoft is going to have to realize that Windows is not an MMORPG, you can't throw it out the door half finished and slowly update it over time or you are going the pay the price of a tainted view of the OS for its entire lifespan.
The satellite is about 22,000 miles up when in geostationary orbit. At the speed of light it would take the signal 233 milliseconds to travel from the ground to the satellite back to the ground. Because this requires user input, you need to double that because the transmission must go from your computer, to the satellite, to the ground, back to the satellite, then back to you.

This means that based on physics alone and the time require to process the signals the delay must be between 500 and 900 milliseconds. This is what makes internet from satellite based sources not usable unless you are sending people specific data, the internet equivalent of dropping rice from airplanes.

Either this is idiotic reporting or faster than light travel has been invented.
I live in Denver where they have been testing these for about a year. If you want one you just ask and they give it to you for free. There is of course an additional fee for usage.

The booster works great and I really enjoy it EXCEPT when you are torrenting. If you use up all your bandwidth, the signal will still go through the box and it will sound really bad. Usually I just make sure to torrent at night when I am not making calls.
Part of me wants a cellphone watch with a screen like this so bad it hurts...

But the other part of me knows a cellphone watch would require a bluetooth headset that I would never allow myself to use, ever.
That makes no sense Nikola. So to make an observation of something flawed means the observation itself must be flawed?

You sound stupid.
A finger will re-grow if lopped off above the joint. In this guys case the cut was VERY close to the joint but still above. This would have grown back no matter what. There is nothing amazing here. It would change modern science if a finger cut into the second joint were to fully regrow. This is bullshit article.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
