EU rules on Microsoft antitrust appeal: Bad news for Microsoft {Engadget}

Sep 17th 2007 11:25AM @ Peppie :
Linux is almost always free of charges, doesnt hold the majority of the market for consumers, includes usually more than 2 media players which are also free and easily removed or not even installed if you dont want to.
If microsoft made their media player and internet browser optional i dont think that EU would mind.
I'm sorry you see it that way, but in the same sense, lets allow every corporation free with no laws and regulations to follow and see what might happen, how about that ?

Sep 17th 2007 9:03AM You have to excuse my english, i didnt mean of the ASAP protocols, i meant their server protocols ASAP, aka as soon as possible, my bad.
Now if i read this correctly, it says they were asked to proper documentation (Back in December, when the EU first announced that it would fine Microsoft €2 million per day if it did not properly DOCUMENT its server protocols...Smith himself announced that Microsoft would license the source code because "the source code is the best documentation.") if i understand correctly, they (microsoft) decided to license their source code because its better that way, not that they were asked to do so directly.

Nokia's iPhone -- no, seriously {Engadget}

Aug 30th 2007 6:42AM You are joking, right ? Get your facts straight : first camera phone with built in camera or otherwise was the sharp j-sh04 released in november 2000, first color screen phone was the siemens sl 10 which was also the first slider released in 1999, first music phone was the nokia 5510, 2001 as well as the siemens sl 45, 2001 (the first with java too) and while we're at it, so was the first open smartphone (nokia 9210 aka communicator, 2000) and the first camera smartphone (nokia 7650, 2001), no innovation huh ? As far as p800 being way ahead in europe, check the sales of it as well of pocket pc sales and then check the sales of 7650 or s60, nokia was always ahead in the premium segment, its the mid range segment they had problems with and that’s why they released so many cheap mid range smartphones lately. As far as bugs go, SE has been having problems with a lot of their feature phones let alone their smartphones, the fact that they stopped updating the firmware on their first generation uiq3 phones while users still complain about bugs should say something. Nokia has no intention of making their phones just another peripheral that should be attached to a computer to work, that’s why they are calling them multimedia computers, as far as copying goes, it's been said before, they had a touch screen smartphone which was discontinued for further development, this is obviously what they were talking about.
