Eee 1000H now in stock at Newegg {Engadget}

Jul 16th 2008 4:09AM The original concept/philosphy/whatever you want to call it was and still is easy to work, learn and play. Just because the first model they made was the smallest and cheapest, doesn't mean that's what the eee is and can only be. So what if they're filling in the gaps from the original eee to full size laptops, you can still get the original (which has dropped in price).
I for 1 am glad for the "quickly diluted brand", I have a 701, but i'm looking for a bit more...I have that choice now and I don't see "real laptops" coming in at the eee dimensions. I wonder how many of you complaining about the diluted brand were also the 1s saying the screen size/screen resolution/storage capacity/whatever else of the 701 wasn't enough.

You have 3 options:

Normal laptop, relatively cheap, big with mid-high processing power
Subnotebook, high cost, small, with mid-high processing power
Netbook, cheap-relatively cheap, really small-small with low processing power

You have options in normal laptop and subnotebook categories, Asus has provided all the options in the netbook category.

Saying the eee can't be more than the original 7"er is like saying Sony can't make more than their 26" TVs (pretty sure their TV range has more options than the eee range).

ASUS' Eee 904 gets official. Officially boring. {Engadget}

Jul 4th 2008 11:47AM So the 901 doesn't make sense with its improved case, the cely swapped for an Atom, a bigger battery, Bluetooth, Wireless N and it costs less?

ASUS' bigger, badder Eee PC 904 and 905 in the chute? {Engadget}

Jun 30th 2008 11:15AM I really don't get why people are complaining about Asus going in a different direction, losing focus, yada yada. Ever heard of different strokes for different folks?

Need the smallest or your needs aren't high, go 70x
Need a bit more, go 900/901
Need a bit more and a bigger keyboard, go 904/5
Need even more, go 1000x

That's it, essentially 4 categories for their line up, big wow. The higher enders might creep into the lower cost full laptop space on price but then you don't get the kind of portability the eees provide and they're a lot cheaper than subnotebooks.

How else can I put it:

Laptops - cheapish but big.
Subnotbook - expensive but small.
eees - cheapish and small but less powerful even with all these new models that hasn't changed.

ASUS gets official with Atom-powered Eee Box {Engadget}

Jun 20th 2008 6:44PM It's already been confirmed a number of times that a Linux version is coming and with better specs.
Unfortunately reg has just reported that the Linux version will be out after XP but at least we have a date (for the UK)

Comcast Center's video wall packs 10 million pixels into 27 x 87-foot display {Engadget}

Jun 19th 2008 8:00AM Aye, just like my bus service upping charges and then changing the timetable to get rid of 2/3 of the buses I use with the remaining buses being an extra 20-45 minutes later than they used to be (if they actually turn up).
Apparently the raise in fares is due to increased costs yet other areas are getting buses with new fancy leather seats in...i'd rather have a bus that comes on time and a timetable that gives me more options than a nicer seat. Thanks for the great service.

But yea, this wall is a waste of money.

Eee PC 901 gets unboxed and examined {Engadget}

Jun 6th 2008 8:52PM The 901 battery life is a LOT better than the 70x and 900s and it's the same as the Winds.

ASUS intros the Eee Monitor all-in-one PC, says more Eee models on the way {Engadget}

Jun 5th 2008 2:21PM The eeebox has bluetooth and all the other specs are the same (minus the TV tuner and screen) so it wouldn't surprise me it the monitor has it too.

Loving what Asus are doing with the eee line. I'll be getting an eeebox and mounting it to the back of my TV for use as a SDTV recorder with a USB tuner.

Tranquil ships T7 and T2e Atom media PCs {Engadget}

Jun 3rd 2008 2:52PM Might as well get an eeebox over the T7. Same as the base T7 model but with twice the HDD space, 4 times the RAM and uses the more expensive less power consuming N270 but still costs less (even taking into account the increase in price everything gets when coming to the UK, I still think the eeebox will be less than the £222 inc VAT of the T7).

Canonical makes Ubuntu Netbook Remix official at Computex {Engadget}

Jun 3rd 2008 1:43PM Here's to hoping this makes it into new eees as it looks better than the Xandros on their now.

Final specifications revealed for ASUS Eee Box B202? {Engadget}

Jun 2nd 2008 11:09AM I'm running eeeXubuntu on mine and i've got compiz fusion running perfectly fine. There's a little bit of choppyness if you have loads of crap running but it's certainly usable. You can even get it running on the stock Xandros OS but I believe it requires a little bit of work.
