Blue Mars is really at the moment a very early beta software. To judge it now is far far to early. It could end up being something really good, but it needs more work.
First its way more than a 1000 years in the future. Secondly in the Mechwarrior universe different planets have different levels of tech. Third anti gravity technology is very energy consumptive, thus the probe using rockets. Thats probably why things look the same, its the most efficient and I doubt we will see things change in any large way for a long time to come.
You have not seen to new updated dashboard have you, Sir Trollock?
Because that is essentially socialism. The idea with capitalism is that the market will eventually give you the best deal. Unfortunately this will not happen with a lack of competition. Which is why you need some regulation to ensure that the free hand of the market is in fact free.

"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
