As much as I really want to like things like this, being kicked in the nuts by digital effects has gotten old. I've spent so much money over the years on digital gadgets, only to find myself going to back to analog. Give me a half dozen pedals and a tube amp over some dsp gizmo any day. I'm not saying that it can't possibly sound good, since it's so subjective. However, the fact that it will be open source and fully documented is fantastic.

This thing should come with a thick gold chain so I can hang it around my neck.

Seriously though, it looks like the faceplate of a car stereo.
Hrm, Why steal someones iPod when you could steal their money and buy one in the color that matches your phat new Reeboks... Wow, thieves are stupid.
Dude, my wife bitches about the Apple posts here. Sometimes you can even make it out mid-fellatio.
"they're constantly pushing technology ahead harder and faster than anyone else"

That is complete and utter BS. They may be pushing candy coated design, but certainly not technology. Have you seen the MBA specs? And on the hype, that 0.16-inches sounds good, but it's at the expense of a large, and IMO, ugly screen bezel. Sure, you could build a laptop with a razor sharp knife edge and say it's 10 microns thick, include 1/3 of the standard functionality and suddenly, you have a winner!
Exactly!
I hope the startup tune is the theme from Metroid.
As a disclaimer, I've worked in the repair dept. at Best Buy. I hated every minute of it. However, the company does keep pretty decent track of the inventory. Everything is tracked through a system with a scannable bar code and number placed on every item. This is purely speculation, but if she didn't pick it up until August, it may have sat on the shelf for a couple months or more while they called every day. Granted, it's Best Buy's fault they lost it, but it's easier to see how it happened if sat there gathering dust for 2+ months.
And...because all companies are ran exactly as they should be, all layoffs should be understood as being "nobody's fault but mine". Additionally, executives should receive very large severance packages and an "A" for effort. Hey, at least they tried, right? /sarcasm off
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
