Creative's 32GB (and 2GB) Zen, again {Engadget}
Nov 30th 2007 5:34AM Inferior? Well, let's see what it's up against:
iPod Nano / Creative Zen:
Size: 69,8x52,3x6.5mm / 55x83x12 (ZEN's twice the thickness, and is about 1/3 larger, but has a much larger screen)
Memory: 4, 8GB / 4, 8, 16, soon 32GB
Screen: 2" / 2.5", 16m colours (2" is virtually useless for video, 2.5" is fine, and Creative's screens are exsquisite)
Battery life: 24h audio, 5h video / 25h audio, 5h video (with a screen that much bigger, that's _good_)
Audio formats: AAC, Protected AAC, MP3, Audible 2, 3, and 4, Apple Lossless, AIFF, WAV / MP3, WMA, non-protected AAC, WAV and Audible 2,3 and 4
Video Formats: H.264, MPEG4 / MJPEG, WMV9, MPEG1 and 2, MPEG4-SP, DivX 4, 5, XviD
If you add the notoriously bad audio quality of iPods and the notoriously good audio quality of Creative's Zen line, it's a pretty clear win.

Ask Engadget: Which mouse is the best mouse? {Engadget}
Nov 10th 2007 11:38AM Any of Logitech's bigger mice, really. I used to have an old MX500, which was awesome in every way - exactly the right size, long battery life, good feel.
Now I use an MX 1000 Laser (bluetooth, not RF, came with my diNovo Media Desktop Laser), and It's even better. Fits my hand even better than the ol' 500, the battery life is significantly better (and so are the charging times) thanks to the built-in Li-Ion, the accuracy and response is fenomenal. A bit expensive, but well worth the money.

Sprint to ditch traditional contracts with Xohm, rely on subscriptions {Engadget}
Sep 29th 2007 4:59PM Hm, this sounds strangely familiar... Oh, wait, this is like a crappier version of how it's always been done in Europe!
Meaning that we buy our phones at retailers either contract-free at retail price, or with a (one year max) contract at a (heavily) subsidized price. Most retailers offer phones with contracts from many different MNOs/MVNOs. Each MVNO or MNO offer a bunch of different subscriptions/contracts (only this term really doesn't fit, as they aren't the same as American contracts), with different terms, different fees, and different monthly prices, which can be signed up for either along with a (subsidized) phone or whenever else. Getting a new phone while on a contract is no problem - you get the phone for the same subsidized price as everyone else, as long as you extend your contract for a new 12 months, or just buy a new phone at retail price and insert your old SIM. Further on, all phones use the same technologies, even if there is more than one MNO in a country, so that all you have to do to change to a different MNO or MVNO is get a new SIM. Also, international roaming is no problem, due to the same technologies being used, and the EU having set reasonable maximum prices.
