On a 1080p display there are approximately 2 million individual pixels. This set is probably attempting HDR with LCDs by utilizing 1,836 separate LEDs to turn back lighting on and off for specific sectors of the screen independently. That's still about 1130 pixels per LED, so you will get some haloing effect around object against black background.

Also, LCD technology, which is transmissive in nature is never going to give you true HDR without sacrificing pixel response times. There is just no way for something LCD based to compete with OLED, SED or any other self illuminating or reflective techonologies.
The CPU is probably one of Samsung's own ARM11 procs. Possibly the same one powering the iPhone, with the PowerVR MBX 3D core.
I see that some still didn't get the memo, but Silverthorne is something you DON'T want for Windows because of it's In Order nature. 1.6GHz Silverthorne will barely get you an improvement over the 800MHz McCaslin A110 because A110 does OOOe.

Intel can go screw themselves for getting me excited about Silverthorne for the last year without letting us know about this important fact.
Samsung ARM CPU in the iPhone already has IMG TECH's PowerVR MBX inside. I don't see why this new chip is such a big news. Probably another PowerVR 3D core. Probably the SGX.
One thing the article's author should have mentioned from the get go is that this is only for vertical markets. It's definitely not meant for regular consumers. That's why it has the ultra rugged casing and number pad.

The customers lined up for this device they told me about are: The military, NYC Sanitation workers, Fire Fighters, and the like. They have no plans to market or make it available to us normal folks.

This is also why the device will cost thousands, not hundreds.
They let me poor water on the back of it while it was running at their Tablet PC users meeting @ CES. It kept on running like nothing happened to it. And they also have a video of them just beating the crap out the thing, and it kept on ticking. One of the tortures was running through a car wash repeatedly with it strapped to the sunroof running, and filming it from below. :D
single chip DLP..... $24,500..... failure.....
Does the 3X in the name mean there are 3 separate color wheels like in the DLP movie theaters to eliminate the rainbow effect? If not, who the hell in their right mind wants to spend 32K on a DLP projector?
The Persian arrows filling the sky and "fighting in the shades" comment is one of my fav scenes.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
