Wait, did I miss something? This does not bring "HD content to the new Apple 27-inch iMac" any more than hooking up a laptop to my home theatre will "bring the Internet" to my Mitsubishi projector. The iMac is basically just acting as an expensive LCD monitor at that point, is it not?

I'm surprised they don't just say this device turns the Mac into "the ultimate gaming machine" because Apogee brings "every PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 game to the new Apple 27-inch iMac". Same concept, is it not?

Then again, I suppose if you're an Apple user with a hankering for Blu-ray content, any glimmer of news is good...
davey.moran1: The original game already has that option. Look in the config screens for something to do with the video camera feed.
The difference is that the RED ONE's big advantage was the price, which is an artificial construct. You don't break any laws of physics or information theory no matter what price you set. Achieving what they claim to have done with the 4K demo reel is a different matter altogether... not saying it can't be done, but this time it isn't an economics problem.

We all know Jim Jannard has a bazillion dollars at his personal disposal, which appears to allow him to pull off product economics that are not possible elsewhere. But we also know that RED is severely overhyped with very little product actually delivered (compared to what's always "just around the corner"). It's really no surprise there are still so many RED skeptics, me included. 4k video at under 10 Mbps that is indistinguishable from an uncompressed stream? That sounds like a best-case scenario, or a claim that will have qualifiers and caveats attached to it, once people get to use it.

Let's wait until we actually see this product in the real world, and not in some tightly-controlled marketing demo.
Who was the Palm rep giving the demo? It sounds like he might be based in Toronto (he mentioned "Air Canada" and "YYZ" during the FlightView demo). Gives me hope that the Pre will be available sooner rather than later up in the Great White North...
The main display blinks only when you activate or deactivate the secondary display. That's just like connecting and disconnecting a second monitor on any Vista machine. It will detect that and automatically reconfigure the desktop (like moving your windows over to the remaining display). This is standard behaviour and not a shortcoming of Lenovo's implementation.
It's too bad you can't have both panels AND a third (external) display all active at the same time. The dual-link DVI port is just calling out for a 30" display...
Unless you nailed the Thinkpad to the desk, bumping into the auxiliary display would probably... . . just push the rest of the laptop along with it. No big deal.
WTF are you talking about?!?
The "Rogers AT&T" thing dates back to the mid-90's when the wireless service was still known as "Cantel". The deal with AT&T Wireless was mainly a co-branding arrangement... pricing policies, operational policies, handset plans, etc. were never shared between the two (except by coincidence).
Yes, but is that *real* wood panelling on the side of the PDP-8?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
