sure, gigabit ethernet is nice if you wanna copy in turbo mode to the integrated HDD, but else than that, nobody needs Gbit LAN in these devices right now.
This looks like another realtek-based device like the xtreamer or mede8er. I can tell you that with FW based on the new realtek SDK, these devices get BD-ISO support, but the cheap bastards still haven't licensed DTS-HD or TrueHD passthrough. only DTS core and DD5.1 available. still, as I can do a direct comparison, the HD-GUI of the realtek devices is much nicer and more responsive, they are cheaper, and the syabas firmware for the sigma devices is a bad joke, even in their new C-200.
at the moment, get a WD TV Live or an Xtreamer.
this device is actually an itab 38 http://www.dbros.co.uk/userimages/procart3.htm

not sure about the firmware/OS but it is supposed to be inferior to the popcorn hour/syabas devices
they say on their website that it would be capable of outputting HD-video, but without an Ion chipset, I wonder how the crappy intel graphics is supposed to do the job...
"If you have a Zune 30 that was not working, I just found out that issue was resolved. You should be good to go."

WTF is that supposed to mean?!
sam, my best guess would be that in january, you'll be able to get A LOT of "bricked" zunes at ebay US for a VERY small price :D

newest developments from the zune forums: it indeed is a date bug; when you hard reset your zune by disconnecting the internal battery for a while, DO NOT adjust time and date and DO NOT plug it into a computer with the ZUNE software installed as this will again synchronize date&time and "brick" the device

oh my god, whoever develops the software should get SACKED for this...
in the zune forums some people had success by disconnecting the battery for some seconds. for this procedure, you gotta unscrew this thing so be careful.

also, it seems that the zune bricks as soon as you connect it to the computer so I guess it's really related to the date because date&time get synchronized
I don't see why these games wouldn't have been possible on another console, say for example the Dreamcast (which Sony killed) or any other system around. square enix, konami, capcom, they all developed for Nintendo before. sony just were the first to use standard CDs and feature 3D capabilities for a reasonable price.
maybe it wasn't so much Nintendo's failure, but it certainly was the near-death for Sega.
chances are that sony would never have gone into console business at all, since the SNES CD was initially just an add-on for the SNES, kinda like the Mega CD but with improved 3D capabilities. when Big N killed the project, these idiots were stupid enough to say to Sony "sure keep the technology, we have no interest" talk about underestimation....

taking Sony out of the equation, I guess the console market would still today be dominated by Sega and Nintendo, since it was the Saturn and especially the Dreamcast that got killed by Sony. ah, you sweet alternative realities....
well, there you go, an early PSX controller prototype, directly from the Sony showcase: http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20040429/scej09.jpg

... and so Big N created a monster.
well, I just knew I've seen this thing before:

in case anybody is still doubting: Big N developed the SNES CD platform together with Sony; when Big N just dumped the project, Sony took over and released it as the now famous Playstation. Maybe the biggest mistake Nintendo ever pulled...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
