The question is... if I order it today will I get it in less than a year? I would never do business with CherryPal again, after what happened with their ultra-buggy, $250, not-capable of running even a web browser well POS which case 6 months after I ordered it...

Not to mention the fact their support forum/whatever hasn't worked for months (Not even sure it's working now...)

I would skip the trouble and stick to ANYTHING else on the market...

I could use the extra storage right about now...

My solution for fixing the economy is 3 fold:
1) Remove excessive greed from the system by adding a law that says "No employee of the company may make more than 20 times what the lowest paid employee does." Tie the 20x number to an index for inflation to keep it accurate. This would create a higher "Default" minimum wage at some companies, or encourage them to hire more people. It would also decrease the number of people who just excessively make money even though 20 people could EASILY do their job for less.
2) Stop the bailouts. Although I can understand some of the banking ones to some degree, the auto industry is doomed as long as it has pensions to pay (can't compete with foreign companies that don't). So either let the companies go bankrupt and rebuild without the pensions, or let them terminate the pensions and issue the bailout as social security (hmmm...).
3) Eliminate all re-elections. This might just solve the problem of people trying to keep their position by catering, instead of doing whats right.

There's my rundown.
I just received mine in the mail today after waiting FOREVER... my favorite part so far is the gaping security flaw it ships with... Inside the box there is a note that reads "your initial userid and password are limeos/limeos (userid: limeos, password: limeos). Please don't change password and userid until further notice". The first then I then went and did was check to see if SSH is enabled, and it is...

So basically here's the flaw it ships with out of box:
1) The password should always be limeos/limeos (if they follow the instructions)
2) anyone should always be able to get into it full root access via SSH

I've reported the flaw to them, who knows what they will do with it... But if you have a cherrypal already, I strongly recommend pulling it from the internet (or at least putting it behind a firewall).
So wait... There is no IR transmitter to my knowledge in the wiimote, which means that the wii must have the ability to control the power running to the sensor bar? and do so at a high enough pulse rate to control most tvs... that's pretty slick... It makes me wonder how long it will be until the wii developers beat Nintendo to this one for Americans.
I think the real question here is whether or not you can trust the device. The only way it could start duping data without a human doing anything but plugging it in, would mean that it has to have self contained software, as well as an autorun script that just starts backing up the moment it's plugged in. Kind of virus/worm like if you ask me...

Now, what does that mean for restoring? You plug it in to a fresh computer and it starts backing up right away and it overwrites what you already backed up? I assume that there must be at least 1 click involved to prevent that from happening....
I wish I could tell you more... I know it was a partnership between 3M and another company, and it's purpose was very specific... I don't believe it was done on a "public" basis, more as part of a service for cities that they supply road signs for (to help figure out how many new signs they need).
Why not take it a step further:

1) Embed it in the stone.
2) Have it come with a EKG to prove you are in fact still dead (which hooks up to your biometric reading coffin.
3) Solar power (which since your tombstone needed it in #2 anyway, just tap the same power source)
4) I like the live feeds... So it should come with a lifetime data plan.
5) does the thing come with 1080p? I want to be able to show the "big game" on sundays for my brother's in law that are dragged by by their wives to see me.
6) and as always.. lower the price.
It looks just like me... Oh wait, it is me... making this post with my amazingly awesome robotic hands!
slinging a comment for the prize.
Its time I got a new phone for tmobile.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
