I am astounded by the readers of WoW.com's mathematical brilliance, I am truly overwhelmed. While I understand the jist of what is being said by these true mathematicians, and understanding what the average winning roll is might be interesting to some, I'm personally more interested in my rolls. Unfortunately the assumptions made by the other commenters is truly flawed. The base assumption is that Blizzard is using one form or other of an RNG. After years of playing WoW and deep analysis I have come to the conclusion that this assumption is false. While I am not a mathematician and therefore have not been able to figure out what the winning rolls are (maybe the mathematicians here can help me) I do have empirical data to prove the theory of what my rolls are. I know it may seem simple, but sometimes the truth is very simple (Occam's Razor and all). As I am no mathematician I'll explain in words, I'll let those smarter than me figure out the actual formula.

World Of Warcrafts Roll Generator Formula if Roller == Trynyti:
With Winning Roll (X) equaling My Roll (Y) minus RNG (n) which approaches 0 as My Desire (m) for the item increases: thus increasing the overall despair at barely missing the winning roll.

Once again, I'm sorry to use such simple words to describe the real formula to my rolls, but sometimes the most brilliant minds miss the obvious. Of course, these are MY rolls, and Mr. Murphy seems to haunt me. ;)
I too loved being the sole sub spec'd rogue on the server, until everyone found out it was the "optimal" spec. So optimal, it got nerfed, so I can go back to being the only rogue on the server with shadowstep... ;)
I regularly do the AT jousting with 1200+ latency (Singapore) and on most of the fights I finish killing my next opponent before I can reuse the heal spell (in under 60 seconds). I'll admit, I did a lot of cursing when they first came out, but after a ton of practice (3 level 80's) it's usually not too difficult.

One tip on extra money making. Remember the Ebon Blade quest to kill 15 dudes and stab them with a flag? Well if you go over to the pit and kill the guys around the pit , they count as Scourge kills (they're not the only ones, but some north of there don't count)! So, 3 quests in 1 == about 36g for killing 15 mobs! Ka'ching!
One more thing to note, especially about a overhealing. Having healers that are all running Grid, HealBot or some other healing utility that broadcasts where heals are going is extremely useful, and helps keep the extreme overhealing to a minimum.

I know as a holy priest I sometimes like to throw a gheal, as it's more mana effecient, but the long cast time sometimes leads to someone else throwing some smaller heals before my gheal is done casting. If I see that the heals are coming then I can cancel and cast a different spell. But there have been many occasions where I cast my gheal and someone else healed them as well (without a heal broadcasting tool), leading to an overheal.

Moral of the story: Get your healers using some tool that broadcasts where their heals are going so they can be more effective together!
I still have my http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28455 macro'd to my Vanish ability. It's awesome when I disappear in a poof of dust and the Ally looks strangely at the Archmage, wondering how the hell he got there! :D
One gadget I'd really like to see, along the lines of the Moll-E and the repair bots is an "ATM". Bank / Guild Bank access from a raid instance! Now that'd make me a popular little engineer again! :D
We have a Wheel of Time fan in our guild. As a first time WoW player he figured he'd name his character after the Asha'men and so named himself Asha'man. Unfortunately for him it came out Ashaman, on his paladin... As follow up, he created Apaladin, who was a shaman. ;)
Not to ruin anyone's hopes, but I have one of these machines at work. It's spent weeks in the repair shop, crashes all the time, and true to Alienware customer support, they won't replace the lemon. The video card has been replaced, the motherboard twice, the memory three times, and I still can't use it. I wish I had gotten a Dell XPS which everyone else has here at work. Even though Alienware is owned by Dell their customer support is no where near as good.

This is the second Alienware laptop I've used, one I own, the other work owns. Both looked great when I first got them, but within weeks they had to be sent back to be repaired and have ultimately been huge disappointments.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
