From what I understand, modern processors don't save power by slowing the clock speed. Well they do save a little, but you save more more power by getting back to idle faster.

ie: 1 second at full speed + 1 second at idle < 2 seconds at half speed

My guess is it for heat reasons, not power reasons.

What I want to know is does it have an LED to tell me what the current speed is?
Of course a linux web server can provide ActiveX content. You couldn't use the ActiveX controls in a linux web browser, but the web server would happily serve the files.

The main reason all of the web based cameras use ActiveX/Java is for video. Web browsers can't reliably do video without the help of ActiveX/Java/Flash. I haven't seen any of these that use Flash yet, but I'm sure they are coming.

I love my Tivo, but what I really want is the option to use what I want. Unfortunately, If you want HD, you have no options.

Cable: Tivo with CableCards or Cable Company box
Direct: DirectTv Box
Dish: Dish Box

Cable wins just by a hair. May all media providers die choking in a pool of their own DRM.

You can turn off the sounds, and it has 30 second skip function, you just have to enable it every time you boot up.

Come to think of it, I haven't been having to enable 30 second skip after power failures. Does anybody know if an update made the Tivo remember that it was enabled over reboots?
To each their own, but I can't believe you like Dish's interface better then Tivo. I tired Dish, but after 2 months me and the wife couldn't take it anymore and had to buy a Series 3.

Never expected to hear her say "I don't care how much it costs, just buy it." about any gadget.
I believe the $1/watt is price per watt for the average coal plant over its entire life. So it is

Cost of Building + Cost of running plant over entire life of plant(Coal included) / Total energy generated of entire life of plant

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
